I can't get the Topology toolbar to display in a basic version of 10 when I check it on via customize
One issue you will encounter is that Topology is primarily a function of the Standard and Advanced license levels. I'm not sure you can use most of the Topology toolbar functions at the Basic license level.

Thank you for responding so fast. I just watched an esri vid about
editing and they said the topo toolbar is avail at all license levels,
but geodbase topo is not available with basic. Thanks for the
additional tip about layers need to be in the same projection. I think
the problem is the toolbar is behind the visor. I wanted to verify
that there is not an easier approach before I try this procedure:
...If nothing else helps, delete your ArcGIS customizations, like
custom extensions, toolbars and toolboxes. This will reset ArcGIS to a
‘fresh install ‘ state: 1.In Windows Explorer navigate to the
folder C:Users%username%AppDataRoamingESRI. This folder contains your
default map and catalog layouts. This is a hidden directory, to
navigate to it enter the path in windows explorer in the address bar.
1.Quit all ArcGIS applications
2.Rename the folder to ESRI_old_v1.
2.Navigate to the folder C:Users%username%DocumentsArcGIS. This
folder contains you default geodatabase and custom toolboxes. 1.Check
with ArcCatalog if this folder contains anything you need to keep
2.Quit all ArcGIS applications
3.Rename the folder to ArcGIS_old_v1.
3.Launch Arc Catalog and ArcMap. They should now launch in a ‘fresh
install’ state with the Esri default toolboxes and toolbars. If you
are fine with it then, you can delete the renamed “_old_v1″
Also, here's an older post from GeoNet with a different reason why it may be greyed out:
topology toolbar greyed out
Can anyone confirm that the topology toolbar is available for a basic 10 license? I know geodbase topology is not available until standard, but the toolbar should still activate in basic to allow a map topology.
I'm on a 10.1 Basic License and I can bring the toolbar up via Customize>Toolbars, but it is greyed out due to the fact the map I'm on has layer projected on the fly.
That's just what I needed to find out. I would expect it be greyed out, but we can't even get the toolbar to depict. We'll proceed with doing resetting arcmap to a fresh install state. Thank you.
Did you do a complete install while installing ArcGIS for Desktop?
Thanks for responding. Yes, we did a complete install. We have not
attempted to rename the install folder. we opened another arcmap
session and now have the toolbar depicting in our Basic arcmap.
We are still troubleshooting to determine the full extent of what we
