Comparing interpolation (IDW) output

Dear,

We are three students, studying Applied Biology at HAS University of Applied Science in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. For our graduation research we are working on a manual to monitor the morfodynamics (erosion and sedimentation) of lowland streams in The Netherlands.

We were given a dataset of an ADCP which consists of the coordinates and the registered depth of the stream. We have manipulated this dataset to simulate two consecutive monitoring rounds. Both datasets are interpolated using the IDW analysis.

So we nove have two interpolation outputs were a difference in stream depth can be seen. Is there a way to analyze the difference between both outputs in a way that we can conclude that a certain area has become deeper (blue part in the right picture)?

Best regards,
