I have a shapefile that users are populating with their preferred bicycle routes. Since public input is not always as neat as we'd like, I would clean up the result and make sure they snap along the same lines. I want to be able to show the total number of overlaps each segment has on the route indicating the number of people riding that same particular segment as seen as the End Result in the image below.
I know I can go the long way and just create a new shapefile and manually count the overlapping segments and input that into it's own field. I was hoping there was a quicker and more automated way of doing this. Keep in mind that my python/scripting knowledge is zero.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.
