Change Map Projections

Hi,

Does anyone know how to change the map projection to suit the data and analysis being performed or is this fixed for a given map layer?

If you need some basic guidance see the documents on What are map projections

If you intend to work with quantities like area, length, perimeter etc, then I always suggest that you "project" your data so that it is in a projected coordinate system, rather than in a geographic coordinate system (aka units in decimal degrees).  The type of projection depends upon the areal extent of where you are studying...amongst many other things.  I would have a basic read before you have more questions.

Can you screen capture it and this will give us know what you were looking for and yes, Dan is right that you would need the correct projection to perform these quantities.

What is the local or the area you want to projection from Geographic to Known projected coordinate system.that you wish to ?
