I wanted to take a minute and talk a little bit about the License Server Administrator. AS you know this is used to provide concurrent use licenses to clients as needed. I always try to stress that this should always be running the latest version available. The reason being is that the License Server Administrator is backwards compatible, meaning that if you have installed License Server Administrator 10.3 on your system then this can provide licenses to version 10.3 Desktop software and also to previous versions. Some people are under the impression that since they are authorized for Desktop 10.3 products that ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 can be installed and should function. We have to keep in mind that if we are using concurrent use licenses then we cannot run Desktop software that is a newer version than the License Server Administrator.

License Server Administrator 10.3 can support:

ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.2

ArcGIS Desktop 10.1

ArcGIS Desktop 10.3

ArcGIS Desktop 9.X

License Server Administrator 10.2.2 cannot support:

ArcGIS Desktop 10.3

License Server Administrator 10.1 can support:

ArcGIS Desktop 10.1

ArcGIS Desktop 10.0

ArcGIS Desktop 9.X

License Server Administrator 10.1 cannot support:

ArcGIS Desktop 10.2

ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.2

ArcGIS Desktop 10.3
