How to change licensing portal?

I cannot change my licensing portal to check in my (pre-release) license. The reset button on the licensing page is dimmed.

The help page says I will be prompted on login to change my license portal, but that login prompt is being interrupted by the popup telling me my licenses time out tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Hi Curtis,

Once you are able to start ArcGIS Pro, please navigate to the Portals tab, right click on the licensing portal and select to sign-in. Once you do that, your work offline check-box should be enabled so that you you can return your license. After doing that the "reset" button should be enabled as well.

Thanks Tushar. I tried this already with no success. I'm signed in.

This doesn't seem to help me:

See the key icon - looks like I'm still pointing to the wrong portal.

Here's what the licensing tab looks like:

The checkbox is not responding to the mouse (presumably because I am still pointing to the wrong licensing portal). The reset button is disabled.

I logged in as another user (an admin user) and its profile somehow didn't know about my (expiring) checked out license - no popup - so I could get to the configure link as the help says I can and from there I could change the license portal ONLY for that user. When running pro as that other user, the checkbox works. In fact, I successfully returned the license already to our ArcGIS Online server while logged in as that other user.

I'm not seeing that. The reset button is disabled for my pr user too, but it has tooltip that pops up and tells me I can change the license server from the startup dialog.

UPDATE: I see now that the reset button only is enabled when the license portal is set to something other than www.arcgis.com. It would be really nice if you could change the portal from that spot in the interface instead of having to restart the software to get that obscure link in the bottom of the sign in dialog!

Hi Curtis,

Thank you for the screen-shot. It seems that your licensing portal is http://www.arcgis.com and you are signing into http://usgs.maps.arcgis.com. The portal with the small key icon is your licensing portal and the one with green check box is your active portal which shows up in the application top right corner.

Please try the below steps and see if they work -

1. Right click on http://wwww.arcgis.com and set it as active portal

2. Hover your mouse over http://usgs.amps.arcgis.com and click on the red cross button that you see. It will remove that portal. Don't worry, you can add it back again later but just want to rule out the possibility that this portal is not causing any issues.

3. Right click on http://www.arcgis.com and sign in as 'cprice' which is the same account under which you took the license offline.

4. Now your 'check-box' to work offline in the licensing page should be enabled.

5. Uncheck it to return  the license back.

6. Then you again navigate to the portals tag and sign out of http://www.arcgis.com

7. Close ArcGIS Pro

8. Next time when you start ArcGIS Pro you should be prompted to sign in again. You should also see "Configure your licensing portal" link at the bottom of the dialog besides "Sign me in automatically". Click on that link to configure your licensing portal.

Update, I've run an install on another machine and I don't have this problem, I am not getting the timeout error so I got the login prompt with the hot link I needed to change the license portal. A difference is that the new attempt was a non-admin (single-user) install.

I'm going to try a full uninstall and reinstall and see if that solves my problems.

Tushar, thanks for the suggestions, but I was only able to resolve this problem with a complete uninstall.

I did a complete uninstall, I did a reset along the lines of Resetting your ArcGIS application profile -- I deleted my user profile area %APPDATA%\ESRI\ArcGISPro1.0 and in regedit zapped HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\ArcGIS Online For Pro and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\ArcGISPro1.0 - and then reinstalled Pro.

On first startup after the clean install, I got got the login prompt this time (no timeout message interrupting it), I could then set my license server successfully the way the documentation instructs.  This may have just resolved itself because the license timed out over the weekend. Or my reset kept it from looking...  At any rate, I'm up and running now.

As I said, I do think there is an issue with the license timeout popup preventing the login dialog from coming up that the dev team may need to resolve. My license had been checked out from usgs.maps, not the main site -- and I didn't have a path to change it because of the timeout popup not allowing me to get to the login dialog.

This is a new licensing approach and I expect it will take a little while to work out the kinks!
