What is the options to collects webhits on a story map?

How do I attach a google analytical script for a storymap hosted online on ArcGISOnline?

I have a requirement to collect hits for each storymap?

ArcGIS Online tells you on the item page of your application how many times the application has been viewed.

Unfortunately it is not possible for you to use Google Analytics on StoryMaps hosted in ArcGIS Online. If you want to do so you will have to download the template and host it on your own server.

Note that Map Tour and Swipe already include in index.html the Google Analytics script (but disabled until you enable it), Map Journal and Map Series don't include it.

I have checked that. When the storymap is viewed, the counter doesn't increment correspondingly in the App.

ok that must be an issue. Could you share a link to it?

Note that this counter will only work for stories that are hosted in ArcGIS Online, not for item that reference story hosted on your own server.

Also note that this counter is not refreshed immediately, there is little latency.

Currently, the story maps hosted on ArcGIS Online do not support adding google analytics. However, all the apps are available on GitHub and can be downloaded and modified with your analytics of choice. If you already have your application configured, you can grab your application ID and add it the configuration section in the index.html. Anything that you’ve done on the hosted version will automatically be applied to the version you downloaded.

Here are the entries in ArcGIS Online that have 'story map' in their metadata sorted by the number of views, most views first:

http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=Story%20map&t=content&focus=applications-web&sortField=numv...

(ArcGIS Online search results max out at 10,000 results, so this doesn't list all the entries, just the first 10,000).

Like Greg says, the number of views is good for entries that represent hosted apps, but for entries that point at apps deployed on a separate server, the number of views for that entry is just the number of times the entry itself has been viewed. But in those cases you could look at the number of views on the web map(s) used in your self-deployed story map to get a hit count.
