Hi

I come across this article on providing grants to sde and other users.

▪ sys.dbms_lock

▪ sys.dbms_pipe

▪ sys.dbms_lob

▪ sys.dbms_sql

▪ sys.dbms_utility

▪ sys.utl_raw

I am working with SDE 10.1 direct connect to Oracle 11g.

What is the purpose of these grants ? Do we need to explicity grant or by default available ?

It is mentioned that these grants can't be given via role and should be provided to users.

If a user is assigned to a role, can we grant access to execute the packages directly to users ?

Thanks

Did you take a look at:

ArcSDE for Oracle installation and upgrade guide

Execute permission on dbms_lob, dbms_utility, dbms_sql, and utl_raw are granted to public by default in Oracle. Therefore, you only need to grant these permissions if you explicitly revoked them from public. Alternatively, you could grant execute privileges to the ArcSDE administrator and every user who accesses the geodatabase. Note that you must grant the execute to individual users; it cannot be granted through roles other than public.

Hope this helps
