Pc and video card

Question asked by presley on Nov 20, 2014

Hi,

we are in the process of acquiring new pc for our Gis Application Arc editor and 3D modeling.

And I was wondering what the best video card for the job is?

Our old configuration froze up from time to time, and it was causing some irritations

Old configuration

HP Workstation z200 - CMT - 1 x Core i7 870 / 2.93 GHz - RAM 2 GB - HDD 1 x 250 GB - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM - Gigabit Ethernet - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - Monitor : none - Smart Buy

NVIDIA Quadro 2000 - Graphics adapter - Quadro 2000 - PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 1 GB GDDR5 - DVI, DisplayPort ( HDCP )

New configuration

Pc

HP Workstation Z420 - CMT - 1 x Xeon E5-1620V2 / 3.7

GHz - RAM 16 GB - HDD 1 TB - DVD SuperMulti - no

graphics - GigE - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit / Windows 8.1 Pro

Video card

NVIDIA Quadro K5000 - Graphics card - Quadro K5000 - 4

GB GDDR5 - PCIe 2.0 x16 - 2 x DVI, 2 x DisplayPort

Will the new configuration work?
