Is there a way to aggregate polygons and rasters. i.e. so I can populate my polygons with a maximum underlying elevation from the raster.
As far as I can tell, with the tools available in Arc, I would have to convert my rasters into polygons first - do I really have to do this it seems a bit long-winded?
have you considered converting your polygon file to a grid using the objected/FID field to produce a grid of unique polygons (ensure cellsize and raster extent are set to your grid properties), then use a zonalstatistics as table (specify the desired stats) . Then use zonalstatisticsastable to get the stats and join to the polygon file
