Is there a tool/function I can use to plot points along a trail at intervals defined by myself?

Start a new empty arcmap session.
Bring in your line feature (
, for example purposes)
Create an empty shapefile point feature class (
) and bring this into the arcmap session.
with the following parameters:
:Create New Feature
Now, with the select tool, select the
, up comes a pop up window
Place a radio button beside
Place points separated by every
Where 0.000 is, put your required units (unit of measurement is determined by coordinate system, see Data Frame Properties -> Coordinate System tab -> Linear Unit: eg, Meter)
If you've made it this far, you should be able to figure out the rest, is that what you wanted?
