Raster/Imagery Projection

I have aerial imagery of a county in Texas - gen4.sid format, projection NAD_1983_StatePlane_Texas_Central_FIPS_4203_Feet.  I am trying to project this imagery data to WGS 1984 Web Mercator system to use in ArcGIS Online.

I have tried using Data Management>Projections and Transformations>Raster>Project Raster Tool, but with no success.  The process begins and will run for hours without any result despite showing 100% completion for hours.

My end goal is to create cached image service, such as:  http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//015400000563000000

Any help or advise on what I can do to solve my projection issue would be greatly appreciated!

Try a two step process: FIrst, save as a different file format (right click Data >> Export Data >> [choose a different file format than sid]). Then try to reproject. SId is a high compression file format, and may be masking the fact that you are working with a huge file.
