Cashing size/time VS number of feature classes and datasets in the mxd,

1. I??m wondering if the NUMBER of feature classes and other datasets (such as mosaic containing heavy images, raster catalog, etc.) included in the mxd file do affect the size/time of caching.

2. My understanding is that caching is a process in which the system takes images (photos) for the target area of the map at all required scales. Am I correct?

3. Do the turned off layers influence the size/time of caching? Or they are cased as if they are turned on?

4. Do the existing  mosaic dataset (in the mxd) that contains heavy images (up to 6GB) affect considerably the size/time of cashing?

Thank you
