It would be handy if when inviting an 'email' to a group that if the user is not found on GeoNet an email is sent out still asking to join the group.
I suspect that maintaining an email database of people who might become users has some costs associated with it which may outweigh the benefits. As an alternative, if there is someone you aren't sure is a member of Geonet, you can search for their name on the People link prior to sending out a request.
Wasn't thinking of keeping an email database, rather email out the Group invite along with a GeoNet invite.
Not everyone joins with their name
PS The invite window says Jive user rather then GeoNet user.
Is this the problem I was just running up against?
I have a CSV of over 50 people and pasted it into the 'Invite to Group' dialog, but it fails to recognize the addresses and says that I 'need to insert at least one valid address'
Is there any work around for this?
Brian, although the platform is designed to invite by email; this is not possible within GeoNet. GeoNet uses Single Sign On (SSO) in conjunction with the Esri Account; therefore, they must already have an account within GeoNet to invite to a group.
