I have installed the software but I can't open it up.I get an error message : Could not connect to an ArcGIS license manager running on host " Not_Set"
The ArcGIS for Desktop Single Use seat provided as the 1 year academic license does not make any use of the FlexNet Publisher ArcGIS License Manager. Simply ignore that, and if you installed the license manager in error you can remove it with Add/Remove programs.
While performing your installation, at the end the Authorization Wizard... ran, and you should have selected the ArcGIS Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use radio button, and entered your Authorization number in the following dialogs.
Not to worry, it is easily adjusted now. First take a moment to verify that you have "activated" your personal Authorization code -- at this portal: http://www.esri.com/apps/products/arcgis/v10_2/eval/educ/index.cfm against your Esri user ID.
Then launch ArcGIS Administrator "Run as Administrator" from the Start menu. Move to the Desktop panel, and check the Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use radio button. Then select the "Authorize Now..." button to run the wizard.
Follow the instructions completing the dialogs, and easiest to complete the licensing "Authorize with Esri now using the Internet".
There is some help here for doing the installation and authorization. http://www.esri.com/landing-pages/software/arcgis/arcgis102-eval-help
Post back if you are still stuck.
Try to make your host ( local host )or chose your server machine name .
Hello Stuart and co.
As a graduate student I've installed 10.2.2 student version from scratch after unistalling v10.
I keep getting the same error about server "Not_Set". I've set for single use (ArcInfo). Perhaps I've made a mistake in the beginning, but I've made sure that the option was correct before reauthorizing.
Every time I attempt to start ArcGIS I get the error "could not connect to an ArcGIS license manager running on host "Not_Set". (see below)
I've looked up Windows 7 "Programs and Features" and there is no license manager installed.
I've tried to reauthorize a few times from the same computer to see if I'd get rid from the error, but now ESRI's server will not me exceed the number of reauthorizations.
1. How to get rid of the error message?
2. How to obtain a new authorization code?
Thank you for your kind assitance,
As mentioned by V Stuart Foote The acadmic licenses are single user and shouldn't need a license manager. You graphic is covering up the option you have selected in the desktop administrator. Make sure you have a single-user software selected.
I'm POSITIVE that I have not selected that "Concurrent License" option with the license manager.
If I did ever, it was the first time by mistake. But then I tried to reauthorizing with the right option to no avail.
There is a bug that keeps saying that "Not_Set" is not a valid option despite my selecting "Single Use".
Will I have to begin from scratch and reinstall?
Now I've exceeded the number of 'authorizations'. Would you be able to help?
Typically once I get a "exceeded authorization" error, it requires a call to my customer servuce rep. Since yours is a educational license, I would talk to your schools technical support. That may know of a way to reset the issue.
but a couple other things you can try (although I don't know that they would work..but what do you have to lose right now)...I would try these, to see if any of these help.
again, I think you may be to the tech support stage....but dies hurt to try these things, just so you can let them know that you've tried,
good luck....sorry I can't help anymore.
