How to change 0 to NoData in DEM

I have a DEM. The pixel type is float. However I need them to be integer to run it through some python scripting.

However when i use the 'Copy Raster' tool to change the pixel type i end up with a big black box around the DEM with a pixel value of 0.

However I don't want this to be here. It makes my computer use too much memory when I'm trying to process the data as an array using python.

What's the best way to remove this data?

I have attached an image to show what i mean.
