Wow, this still hasn't changed! Any progress in 4 years? Does anyone know another way to do this?

Hi, sDNA can handle that sort of volume, albeit working from link centers rather than a point data set. Given the number of points involved I'm guessing your spatial model is large so the difference won't matter to you? (Though if it does you can split links where you want your start/endpoints). The public version won't output the data you require but the beta of our next version will - if you would like to try it feel free to get in touch with me via the website. www.cf.ac.uk/sdna

Can I bump this up again. Snapping simply doesn't seem to work for me in Arcscene whether dragging points in x/y or z.

When trying to use data interop quick import/export, I click the [...] button in the toolbox dialog to specify the desired format, and nothing happens. Is this a common error? Data interop extension is installed, authorized and enabled.

Trying to edit a polyline feature class in arcscene I cannot get feature vertices to snap to one another. Snapping tolerance is set to 10 pixels. In the snapping environment window, all boxes are checked: vertex, edge and end for the layer in question; edit sketch vertex, edge, perpendicular, topology element and node. I am editing vertices with the edit vertex tool on the 3d editing toolbar, and am moving them in the z direction by holding down z while dragging. Is there anything else to try?

Hi there I wanted to flag up our free ArcToolbox tool to this community (hope that's appropriate, please remove the post if not!). sDNA fills a slightly different niche to ESRI network analyst - I use both tools myself and both are good for different tasks. While ESRI use origin/destination points as a basis for analysis, we use links themselves as the fundamental unit. This is useful in the absence of OD data - especially combined with angular analysis which can proxy missing impedance data such as pedestrian route preference or vehicle travel time. http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/sdna/ sDNA computes a variety of closeness, betweenness, density, efficiency and severance measures on spatial networks using either angular, Euclidean or custom metrics and link, length or custom weighting. Measures are localized using customizable network radius. We have found correlations between these measures and much real-world data ranging from vehicle and pedestrian traffic to land values and even health and community cohesion. Best regards, Crispin Cooper (Sustainable Places Research Institute - Cardiff University)

I'd like to visualise a 3d network in a city. Would it be possible to 1. create generative city model from building plots + building height data in cityengine 2. export that model into arcscene 3. visualise my 3d network in arcscene? I know arcscene can handle 3d networks, and view lines inside other objects (by making those objects transparent) so if the export process is possible that would seem to be the answer.

That's the plan, yes. Two problems really - (1) to visualise 3d networks; (2) to visualise 3d networks when they extend inside buildings/the ground.

Hi, I am having problems with snapping when editing vertices in ArcScene. Snapping is turned on, and I have tried setting both small and large numbers of pixels and map units. In the snapping environment window I have tried both selecting and unselecting vertex, edge and end for my single (3d polyline) feature layer. I am dragging polyline endpoints around either in x,y or holding the z key, and still can't get endpoints to snap. Am I missing something?! Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to import a 3d network to cityengine - i.e. one with z-data or elevations, that will be rendered as bridges or tunnels as appropriate? Also if a network extends inside a building (e.g. pedestrian walkways) is there an easy way to display this?
