Hello, We have ArcMap 10.7.1 in my office and I'm trying to take our layers (with symbology) and import them into ArcOnline to create a WebMap so our client can view the data since they do not have access to ArcGIS Licenses. Is there a simple way to ensure we can maintain the symbology that we have when using ArcDesktop? We want to avoid setting up different symbology than what our existing maps and PDFs show to avoid any confusion. Ideally, it would be nice if we can import Layer Packages but that isn't an option when importing files into Map Viewer. We do not have ArcGIS Pro, if this is a program we need to make this possible we may be able to get a license but, as of right now and the near future we will not have the ability to use ArcGIS Pro. Any and all help is appreciated, thank you! -Ben

Hello All! I have a little dilemma, we inherited field verified data sets, and the data was collected using a World Coordinate System rather than a state plane that we've been using in our GIS. I want to be able to run topology rules but I am unable to because of the field verified datasets having a different GCS than the data I've been working with. Is there any way that the coordinate system and projections of the field verified data can be changed to what I've been using? My hope is that I can change the projection and GCS of the field verified data to match the correct GCS I've been using without moving the data points. I have tried just changing the projection using Define Projection but that moves the points. I have been working with this GCS and projection: Projected Coordinate System: NAD_1983_StatePlane_Pennsylvania_South_FIPS_3702_Feet Projection: Lambert_Conformal_Conic False_Easting: 1968500.00000000 False_Northing: 0.00000000 Central_Meridian: -77.75000000 Standard_Parallel_1: 39.93333333 Standard_Parallel_2: 40.96666667 Latitude_Of_Origin: 39.33333333 Linear Unit: Foot_US Geographic Coordinate System: GCS_North_American_1983 Datum: D_North_American_1983 Prime Meridian: Greenwich Angular Unit: Degree And this is what the data was collected with: Projected Coordinate System: WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere Projection: Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere False_Easting: 0.00000000 False_Northing: 0.00000000 Central_Meridian: 0.00000000 Standard_Parallel_1: 0.00000000 Auxiliary_Sphere_Type: 0.00000000 Linear Unit: Meter Geographic Coordinate System: GCS_WGS_1984 Datum: D_WGS_1984 Prime Meridian: Greenwich Angular Unit: Degree Any and all help is appreciated! -Benjamin

Hello Fellow GISers! I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right group but I work at a Civil Engineering firm and felt like this may be something that comes up often. I am working with Data Driven Pages to create a rather large (over 50 page) mapbook detailing a water main system with valves labeled with an ID number. The pages have different rotations and scales in order to make the sections of the map fit best into the data frame. Since there are usually 3 or more valves that need to be labeled in a small area I changed the properties using Maplex Label Engine to force all of the labels to be shown BUT they consistently overlap. Now I converted the labels to annotation to have the benefit of manually moving the labels but I have sacrificed the ability for my labels to stay horizontal. I want to be able to use Data Driven Pages and have the ability to manually move my annotation labels AND keep their orientation horizontal. Any and all help is appreciated. I found a similar post that didn't get any attention below and felt that this needed to resurface. https://community.esri.com/message/392468?q=data%20driven%20pages%20annotation%20labels Thanks in advance! -Ben

Hello All, I am setting up manhole points with multiple labels (Manhole Number, Rim Elev, Inverts, etc.). I want to know if there is any possible way to write an expression that will omit/remove Null or specific values (such as "0"). I have screenshots below and a copy of my expression. Thank you in advance! Expression: [ "MH#: " & [MH_ID] & vbNewLine & "RIM: " & [RIM_ELEV] & vbNewLine & "INV 1: " & [INV_1] & vbNewLine & "INV 2: " & [INV_2] & vbNewLine & "INV 3: " & [INV_3] & vbNewLine & "INV 4: " & [INV_4] ]

Hello, Our office just updated from ArcMap 10.5.1 to ArcMap 10.7.1. I have a bookmark in layout view that is set to a certain scale and extents. When I export the map using Map Export from the File drop-down, the resulting PDF has different extents and scale than what Layout has. This is making it impossible to export our maps. Even when I save the MXD the data frame resets it's extents and scale. HELP! #10.7.1 #ArcMap #MapExport #PrintIssues

Hello, I am creating a booklet using Tax Map Plates (168 Plates). When clicking through my data-driven pages some pages show all of the layers, while some show none. When that happens I am no longer able to see my layers in layout view or data view (even when I try to Zoom to Layer). I believed I may have had a corrupt file so I opened a new .MXD, imported my layers and experienced the same problem once I set up data-driven pages. I have been unsuccessful in finding anything that can help me reach a solution, and no one in my office knows where to start to find a solution either. PLEASE HELP! I am working in ArcGIS 10.5.1, Windows 10 Desktop.

Hello Everyone! I am new to using metadata and I want to know the best workflow when it comes to importing a metadata template into a data set that I've created. Our office is starting to use metadata more frequently, and we have a template file with all of our company's contacts, use limitations, legal constraints, etc. Some metadata that I import our template into has fields already filled out, and I want to preserve those descriptions and fields. Right now when I use the 'Metadata Importer' tool, it changes the name of the dataset to the name of our template file, and I need to use 'Synchronize Metadata' to get the original name back. My current workflow is to use the 'Metadata Importer' conversion tool to import all of our contact/constraint information, and then 'Synchronize Metadata' and set the Synchronize Type to 'Overwrite' in order to get the dataset's name, field descriptions, etc. back into the metadata. Is this the correct workflow? What workflows do you use to ensure that original data attached/written for the original data set does not get lost? Can anyone better describe when to use each of the Synchronize Types? I find the descriptions ESRI provides are a little confusing. I have the current descriptions copied below. ALWAYS—Properties of the source item are always added to or updated in its metadata. Metadata will be created if it doesn't already exist. This is the deault. ACCESSED—Properties of the source item are added to or updated in its metadata when it is accessed. Metadata will be created if it doesn't already exist. CREATED—Metadata will be created and properties of the source item will be added to it if the item doesn't already have metadata. NOT_CREATED—Properties of the source item are added to or updated in existing metadata. OVERWRITE—The same as "ALWAYS" except all information that can be recorded automatically in the metadata will be recorded. Any properties typed in by a person will be replaced with the item's actual properties. SELECTIVE—The same as "OVERWRITE" except the title and the content type will not be overwritten with default values for the item. Used when metadata is upgraded to the ArcGIS 10.x metadata format. Thank you in advance! - Benjamin
