Hi Amy, Yes, print desk copies would need to be purchased. The exercise data is usually packaged as an .exe file and downloaded from the associated ArcGIS Online group for that book. If you're referring to files for instructors within VitalSource, the file organization is determined by VitalSource Support who uploads files to our books on our behalf. The organization is based on file quantity, size, and suitability based on their upload platform. PowerPoint slides for teaching are provided by our authors, so when they're made available, they will be included for download. So that will vary by title. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks! Sasha

Hi there, Yes, you can download the data at the following link: https://esripress.esri.com/bookResources/index.cfm?event=catalog.book&id=13. The page had originally been inactive since it's out of print, but we've reactivated it for you for this download. Please let me know if you have any trouble. Thanks!

Hi again, When you open the Word docs provided, the answers are provided after the questions themselves. However, in looking at the unbolded text you pasted above, I can see there are some files missing in VitalSource. I will work with the VitalSource team to get those updated. With the quantity and size of the files, it may take a week for all of them to upload. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you need them sooner: sgallardo@esri.com. Thanks! Sasha

Hi Sanjiv, If you're an instructor, you can find the resources available for download within VitalSource. After you've added the e-book to your library, you will click on the attachment icon near the book cover in your library home, and it will open a side panel with the files you can download. You can read more about doing this in our blog here: https://community.esri.com/t5/esri-press-books-blogs/how-to-access-instructor-resources/ba-p/889536. Feel free to let us know if you have other questions! Sasha

Hi again, We don't currently have another book with a project-based approach in the works. We are currently discussing how we can continue to support educators like yourself who are using this book, but no final decisions have been yet. Hope that helps! Please let me know if any other questions come up. Thanks!

Hi Donna, I can help you with this. The print book is out of print; the e-book, however, is still available under 9781589485273. Our book distributor is Ingram, if that helps your bookstore. Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!

Welcome, Geography 2050 attendees! In coordination with the American Geographical Society, we're happy to present you with this special list of titles with event discount prices that complement this year's conference theme, "The Future of the World Ocean." Scroll down to see the complete list of books curated for you for this event. Ocean Solutions, Earth Solutions, second edition Edited by speaker and recipient of the George Davidson Award Dr. Dawn Wright, this collection offers the insights of more than 50 ocean and coastal science researchers exploring ocean components and their relationships, patterns, and trends over time and space. A prime title for anyone interested more in this year’s conference theme or working for ocean conservation or research. GIS for Science: Applying Mapping and Spatial Analytics The first volume in the GIS for Science series, this book profiles various scientists using remote sensing, web maps within a geospatial cloud, Esri StoryMaps, and spatial analysis to address an array of issues with a geographic dimension. Using full-color spreads with plentiful maps, photographs, and charts, topics covered include climate change, natural disasters, homelessness, loss of green infrastructure, and resource shortages, among more. GIS for Science: Applying Mapping and Spatial Analytics, Volume 2 This second, forthcoming volume in the GIS for Science series continues the legacy started by the first volume by telling the stories of scientists who employ data gathered from satellites, aircraft, ships, drones, and myriad other remote-sensing and on-site technologies. Topics brought to life with GIS and the broader realm of spatial data science include epidemiology in light of the COVID-19 pandemic; sustainable precision agriculture; predicting geological processes below the surface of the earth; and more. The International Geodesign Collaboration: Changing Geography by Design Co-edited by the author of A Framework for Geodesign (Carl Steinitz), this collection demonstrates how a geodesign approach can allow multiple disciplinary teams to collaborate using GIS and design tools to explore alternative future scenarios through 51 university projects. Readers wanting to understand how other groups or organizations strategize for their own future are encouraged to dive into this collection. Ethics in Everyday Places: Mapping Moral Stress, Distress, and Injury Published in coordination with MIT Press, this book explores the ethical dilemmas of mapmakers and others in the popular media and the sciences, including graphic artists, journalists, researchers, and social scientists when developing maps as a means of investigation. This title makes an excellent companion book for anyone doing research that will be explained or shared in map form. Getting to Know Web GIS, fourth edition In this fully updated fourth edition, readers can dive the latest advances in Esri’s entire Web GIS platform, from the cloud server side to the client side. The book explores what's new in existing software like ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise; recent Web GIS products such as ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Indoors, and ArcGIS QuickCapture; and discusses online spatial analysis, ArcGIS Notebooks, 3D web scenes, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more—a perfect book for any professional looking to enhance the quality and reach of their online toolbox. Python Scripting for ArcGIS Pro Designed for anyone with only basic knowledge of programming, this book starts with the fundamentals of Python programming and then dives into how to write useful Python scripts that work with spatial data in ArcGIS Pro. A must for anyone wanting to simplify their ArcGIS Pro workflows and automate some repetitive tasks. Advanced Python Scripting for ArcGIS Pro Intended to complement the previous book listed, this book goes further into teaching how to complete more specialized Python scripts such as sharing your tools with others, creating Python script tools, and writing Python toolboxes. Use this book to further your developer skills. Women and GIS: Mapping Their Stories This first volume in the Women and GIS series chronicles the stories of different women from all over the globe who have made a significant impact in their respective fields of work. With gorgeous spreads and full-color photographs, this book makes an excellent read for anyone curious about working in a STEAM-related field. Women and GIS, Volume 2: Stars of Spatial Science Like the first volume, this book goes into depth with various women who have positively impacted an industry with GIS. Perfect for anyone with a belief (or even disbelief) that one person can make a difference in the world.

So you've decided to adopt an Esri Press book and want to know if instructor resources are available. How do you find out? Perhaps you know instructor resources are available but can't seem to find them. How do you request them? Or maybe you're already familiar with how to request instructor resources, but your laptop doesn't have a DVD drive. Now what? To help answer these questions and more from our educators worldwide, we're moving our instructor resources to the e-book platform we use to deliver our desk copies, VitalSource. That means you can instantly download instructor resources for a book when you access the e-desk copy--no need to wait on having the instructor resource DVD shipped to you, or not having them at all because shipping wasn't available to your part of the world. So how does it work? Read on! Add the e-book to your Bookshelf library. Depending on the region or country associated with your login and with the VitalSource site, you can either self-sample the e-book by clicking on "Request a Sample" or "Add to Library," or you can have a book recommendation sent to you instead. See this blog for more details about this process. Open the e-book in your library. In a browser or your desktop app, this would be the "My Bookshelf" link in the navigation bar. Find the attachments icon near or over your book's cover. Depending on where the book appears, the icon would either be next to the book cover: Or on top of it: Click on the icon to open a side window with all of the available files for download. Downloading the folder will give you its contents in a zip folder. Pretty simple, yes? As we continue to publish books with instructor resources, you'll find more titles with attachments available in VitalSource. We'll be migrating the remaining resources at our current desk copy form (where educators would previously request books to be shipped to them) to VitalSource by the end of the year, so more of our educators can have quick, easy, and convenient access to available instructor resources, no waiting needed. Still wondering how you know if an edition has instructor resources? You can usually find out in the preface of the book, or you can post a question about it in our GeoNet space.

Hi there, Check that the URL you're at has vitalsource.com/educators in it. If it has vitalsource.com/products, it indicates you are in the e-store and will only see available purchase options. You can get back to the faculty sampling portal by clicking on Faculty Sampling in the top right corner. Hope that helps! Sasha
