Hi, I'm using ArcGIS Online to analyze some watersheds. I've been able to delineate them just fine, and want to know "how much impervious surface is in each watershed". It seems like Analysis-->Summarize-->Summarize Within would be the way to go, but every time I try, it gives back an error message. My watersheds are shared with the public at http://arcg.is/2bD2hLT The impervious surface area I want to use is the USA NLCD Impervious Surfaces 2011, which is easily available right through ArcGIS Online. I've also tried this on Desktop, but the application freezes whenever I try to do anything. I think that the NCLD Impervious layer is probably just too big (covers 48 states!), or perhaps my computer is just too slow. Thanks for any insight! --Chris Kodani

I'm introducing a class to ArcGIS Online. I'd like to make a simple map of our campus, where each person in the class can post and share their favorite eating places ON JUST ONE MAP. How do I make this happen? They've all got public accounts, and I've even been able to create a group for them. Can I make a layer that they can all edit? Would it be better for them to each make a layer and then share to the group? Thanks so much for any insight!

Mike, thanks for the reply. I went back into ArcMap for Desktop 9, and was able to export my watershed as a shapefile. Unfortunately, it saved SEVEN different files!!! They have extensions of .dbf .prj . sbn .sbx .shp and another .shp and .shx. I zipped all of them into a single zipped folder, and uploaded that to My Content. It still won't let me add it to my map. Is there a particular way I should zip this stuff up? Thanks for any help, Chris Even stranger, I was able to upload my shapefile just fine in ArcGIS Explorer online, and it shows up great.

The only types of data you can add to a web map are: services (map, feature, wms), KML files, zipped Shapefiles, CSV files, and GPX files. These types can be added directly to the map from the Add menu button when viewing a map. Here's some information about creating maps: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisonline/help/index.html#/Creating_maps/010q0000001n000000/ Thanks, Mike Mike, thanks for the reply. I want to share some watersheds I delineated in ArcGIS Desktop 9, and I was able to upload them to My Content in ArcGIS Online, but when I try to add them to my topo basemap, it won't allow me to find or search for them when I try to Add. How can I get lyr files into ArcGIS Online?
