(ArcGIS Pro 2.6.2) A solution...the issue was that only the Arcade expression is available initially...follow the steps to set the feature for colouring in symbol properties...then go back to the tickbox Allow symbol property connections (Symbology - Legend green polygons) and select the expression option (green cross in a box) Visual Basic is now a choice...select Visual Basic and viola it works beautifully. ... Thanks James, but I didn't have any joy. Not exactly sure what you mean by Customize>Toolbars>Select Draw and also select Editor. Did you mean Customize Ribbon? Select Draw remains a total mystery - nothing in Toolbars or on-line search. I have Select Elements available on the Layout Tab (I did add it to a custom toolbar/tab), but it doesn't select annotation features whichever way I try.
