Esri needs to solve the problem of the slow behavior of Arcgis Pro. I like a lot of the features in Arcgis Pro, but I can´t recommend it as usual workflows are extremely slow. I would tolerate waiting for a few second to access the tools or to do basic calculations. Even running python in Arcgis Pro is extremely slow. The worst experience was when I did some calculations in a field in a big data set and it took more than one hour. In Python (pandas) it took less than a second. I guess it depends on working in memory compared to working in a local file database. It should not bee this way.

In order to get large areas and good details we create our own tpk:s and sideload them to the device. We have tried several settings and this works for us: Create a Tile Service with following scales (Generate Cache Tiling Scheme): 3000 6000 10000 24000 50000 100000 200000 400000 800000 Create a tpk with the following settings. Tile size 512 by 512 Tile Format: Mixed Compression Quality: 50 Storage Format: Compact

1. Close the app - restart the app and try again. 2. Change to send only and try again with sync. Take a look in the webbrowser if the Changes have been received. Remove the maps and download again. 3. Move the files in Itunes and use a python-command in Arcmap to retrieve the data from the runtime-database. Good luck.

I miss the feature that the user could press a button in the upper right corner of the map in order to get a new location. It was a round-circle Many of my users use a survey with geopoints in repeats. When they have done one repeat- they press the plus-sign and make a new repeat. The problem is that the next repeat have the coordinates from when the plus-sign was pressed and not from the next sample plot. It is natural to press the plus-sign because it is perceived as a saving-button. Is it possible to get back the round-circle-button? I also miss the ability to open the map and choose where the plot should be situated. The problems have occured during the last months. Bull release? We use the iOS-app 3.0.134

A few years ago we tested a lot of different devices and then Ipad was the best equipment. Now we order Ipad mini 4G or Ipad 9.7" (2018) 4G and use Otterbox defender cases with utility series latch. We use 128 GB memory in order to sideload large basemaps. As the Verge states "Apple’s bare minimum still beats everybody else". https://www.theverge.com/2018/4/3/17188626/apple-ipad-review-pencil-processor-2018-education Other people have good experiences with Android. One important thing is to minimize the number of models you are using - we had good experiences of Samsung Tablets and bad experiences from Sony Tablets. Windows Tablets are Heavy, got short battery life and are expensive.

I have a survey that works well on windows, but when I run it on iOS it crashes. I read that it was a problem with repeat counts - but I don´t have any repeat counts and I have no clue why it crashes. It crashes when I try to add a new repeat. Could you please try to find the cause?

Yes - Collector could use related data. The trees will become a Point in collector and when you open the popup for the tree you could se/add/edit/delete the related defect/defects.

I use to put the Grids on the Basemap and show it in the scales that are most fit. In that way you get a very fast rendering. In the future I guess that Vector Tiles is the best answer (Aurora relaease of Collector)

That´s not my cup of tea. I would talk with someone that has skills with FME or Geoevent Server. Another track is to test the next version of Collector (Aurora). It could use Arcade expression and that could maybe solve your problem. Read more: https://community.esri.com/community/gis/applications/collector-for-arcgis/blog/2017/09/06/the-aurora-project The first beta will be released on iOS very soon so maybe you should check that out.

I would recommend that you add some extra fields to the feature-layer. Here is a description how you could do that. http://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/android/create-maps/gps-map-prep.htm
