I have a fresh/cold install of Esri 10.8.1 with portal on one machine, arcgis server on 3 machines (site created on 1 of them and other 2 joined with it). I have a web adaptor machine and a reverse proxy machine. I also have a postgresql 12.5 machine. I need to add geoevent server on one of the joined machines with arcgis server on it. I also need to put a spatiotemporal data store on that machine. The other 2 arcgis servers (i.e., the primary and the other joined server) have relational and tile cache data stores. I cannot find anything in online documentation that definitively gives the order of installation for geoevent server software and configuration thereof vs. configuration of the spatiotemporal data store (data store software already installed, but not configured). Can anyone help? This is urgent!

I am creating a new dev/test implementation of 10.8.1 with multiple server architecture. I need to port data from another 10.6.1 instance and was told there was a disaster recovery script I could use for that purpose with my 10.14 postgresql database.

Hi everybody and Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it. I'm new to this community and am happy to help anyone in any way I can. To learn more about me and to minimize this post, see my websites as follows... https://jessejosserand.com, https://GoodThingsAbout.Me, and https://WhatIDo.Info. I'm about to do my 1st esri implementation for a gov't entity and could use some advice. I'll post my question(s) in the appropriate area, of course. 🙂 --Jess

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same problem now on 10.6.1. In catalina.out, I'm getting multiple occurrences of... 09-Sep-2020 10:05:59.710 WARNING [Timer-18] com.esri.arcgis.server.wa.cluster.UpdatePortalCacheTask.updateMachinesList Exception in connecting to [URL Redacted for Security]:7080/arcgis/portaladmin Error in Portal Admin request for get machinesError in admin request for get machines Connection refused (Connection refused) ...however, the portal URL works just fine and authentication, as well. I'm on Centos7.8, tomcat 8.5.57 and JRE jre1.8.0_261-amd64. I'm not sure if there's any real impact since it's just a warning, but I remain concerned. Please help.

I found How To: Determine the installation location and version of ArcGIS Desktop using Python ...with a python script to determine version and installation location but it fails with a syntax error. python3.7 test.py File "test.py", line 10 print "%s : %s" % (k, d ) ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax ...test.py is a copy of the provided python script at that link above. How can I determine the following... 1. what is my current arcgis version? 2. where is it installed? 3. what is the best practice architecture? I ask the third question because in 3 environments I work with, none of them have identical architecture and that is very frustrating. The goal, per my management, is to have the arcportal user own everything and not to have an arcserver user at all. Is that a reasonable architecture and if NO then what is the best practice for that??? I'm a 49 year IT veteran with many years of Linux, PHP, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Python, and mass-quantities of other related experience, but am new to esri and arcgis. Please help! I work for GDIT, but have to use my personal email for these communications due to the security level of that which I support.

I have looked in various application logs; portal admin logs, arcserver admin logs, usage reports, etc. ... all to no avail. I need to query content views for a custom time period. Can anyone provide answers and/or assistance with this matter, please?

Thanks all for the great responses and suggestions … I really appreciate the community responding so quickly to a newbie like me. However, after extreme research, I’ve discovered that there is no database file system backup to start from IF a point-in-time restore/recovery could be done with archive logs. Not only that, IF I could even attempt a recovery (assuming such a full filesystem backup were available), I need to rollback logs to March 24th, but my logs only go from March 1st to March 4th, then there’s a gap until March 27th (no idea why, either, but irrelevant at this point)… so no restore is possible to the desired date. Thanks again, nevertheless. I have learned a lot. FYI, I did discover how to interact with the portal postgresql database, though it is not supported in case anyone would like to know how to do that. It was this that helped me discover my problems above. <https://www.teksynap.com/> Jesse F.
