Hello, I have been researching Esri Redistricting. I was curious if there is Python API access to Esri Redistricting. I am assuming it would be no different that other ArcGIS Online Python interaction, but thought I would verify and check if anyone has any thoughts/feedback on this? Thanks, Derek

Hello, I am attempting to control the color of my graduated symbols based on a different value from the one used to drive the symbol sizes. Both values are in the same attribute table. I was thinking to do this with an Arcade expression under "Vary symbology by color" however, it doesn't seem to be working as expected. The Arcade expression I am using is: if ($feature.USER_avg_tem==70){ return rgb(255, 255, 0) } Any advice on how to get this working would be appreciated. Thanks, Derek

Does anyone know if there is a way to georeference a raster image with the Python API in ArcGIS Pro? Essentially here I am looking to automate some of the move, scale, transform functionality as described here Georeferencing a raster automatically to another raster—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Thanks ahead of time. Hi, Dan. I did finally get it to work after selecting Arcade as the Expression Type and selecting the Start editing check box. Go figure. Thanks again for sticking w/ me on this one. Derek

This layer is not currently in a joined state. I believe the CountyENDS:1 is occurring because I have another layer added to the same project with the same name. One is from a standalone shapefile and the other is within a geodatabase, but they both have the same names. I think that Field Calculate tool just adds that :# on there from multiple layers with the same name.

I am doing this now in a geodatabase and am verifying that the fields are all of the type numeric. From the screenshot below you can see the zeros in the table. There are some 1's further down in the table. Here is the setup I do: Here is the result of the table Thanks for all of your feedback and suggestions. I am just trying to learn some of the subtle nuances of ArcGIS here. Derek

The values on those fields (both Long type) on are 0 or 1. I feel like I am doing something wrong with my calculate field statement. Like most folks, I am new to ArcGIS Pro. I added a new Long field to hold the results of the sum. Then I right-click on that new field and select Calculate Field. From there I put in the build up in the first input box following the new_field= something like !city_ords! + !county_ord!. I leave the default of Python 3 as the expression type. But, everything I get nulls in the result of the new field. I am able to get it to run in a geodatabase as Dan suggested, but the values are still null.

Thanks Dan. I had read that and was wondering if that was of issue. I did move it to a geodatabase at one point, but I think I was getting the same issue. I will try it again. A perplexing thing is that my calculations should be producing any nulls unless field calculator is treating 0+0+0 as null.

Hello, I am working on a shapefile within ArcGIS Pro 2.1. I am trying to use the field calculator to add a few fields to the populated one I created. However, I keep getting the error message of field is not nullable. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Derek

I am using ArcPy within ArcGIS 10.1 and attempting to read symbology from a *.lyr file created by a raster dataset within ArcMap. My goal is to be able read out the RGB (color) values assigned to the class breaks on the dataset. It???s seems easy enough to get the lyr file into an object with: lyrFile = arcpy.mapping.Layer("C:/.../ReadLyrFileSymbology/conus_foresttype6.img.lyr") However, after that I am unable to find the method or property to get symbology color (RGB) on a layer. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Derek

That is quite a few points to get through but should be doable. Is this something you will be doing with some frequency? If so you would definitely want to write a script for it, however basic. If it is something you want to optimize and/or will be doing quite often you can get right down to the math and bypass arcpy completely (albeit reinventing the wheel a bit). It follows the concept of the Jordan curve theorem to determine whether a point is inside or outside a polygon. You can utilize the code for the even-odd rule here to get started. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Even-odd_rule Thanks Mathew. That is interesting reading. The spatial join did end up working for me best though as you first replied.

Thanks for you response. I am trying that now. I should also point out that I am starting with a list of points in a dbf and then converting them to point geometry with point = arcpy.Point(ptRow.xpos, ptRow.ypos)
ptGeometry = arcpy.PointGeometry(point) And that I am dealing with about 17 million points and 3000 polygons. Therefore, I was assuming that this would be something to script. But if the join works then that would be great. Derek

Hello, I have a list of points and a list of polygons both in a separate shape files. I am trying to write a ArcPy script to loop through the points, and then the polygons respectively and tell me when a point is within a polygon. I have tried both the contains and touches methods on polygons but haven't had any luck. Any help would be appreciated. So far I have the following: import arcpy pointFeatureClass = "C:\\Data\\POINTS2.dbf" pointFieldList = arcpy.ListFields(pointFeatureClass) for field in pointFieldList: curField = field.name arcpy.AddMessage(curField) ptRows = arcpy.SearchCursor("C:\\Data\\POINTS2.dbf", "", "", "CID;Shape","CID;Shape") for ptRow in ptRows: #Now loop through poly's testing for intersect shpRows = arcpy.SearchCursor("C:\\Data\\counties.shp", "", "", "NAME;Shape","NAME;Shape") for shpRow in shpRows: #arcpy.AddMessage("Checking for point "+ str(ptRow.CID) +" in: " + shpRow.NAME) if shpRow.Shape.touches(ptRow.Shape): arcpy.AddMessage("Got it: " + shpRow.NAME)

Is there a way to disable texture downscaling for a whole project? I have an ArcGlobe project with many multipatch features in it. I would like to be able to turn off this feature for every feature without having to go into Layer Properties -> Globe Display -> Advanced -> and checking Disable texture downscaling. Thanks, Derek
