You could probably do this in ArcScene..and export to .3WS.

This sounds like a pretty big project. As far as the user entering a lat/long and then going to that point below a 3D surface (where a point is waiting to be clicked for info) I am not sure how to facilitate that. However, if you want to have sub-surface scenes in which the user zooms to a visible point and recieve info about that point then you could try using a 3D web scene (.3ws). You could have your points represented in 3D below a surface (include geologic layers, numbers, etc..) and the user could either zoom to them and click...or click a bookmark that you have setup to go to a specific point. Here are a couple of these 3D web scenes that do something similar. http://www.arcgis.com/apps/CEWebViewer/viewer.html?3dWebScene=2b48caaabd0e44028724c5f109f3de97 Try clicking the 3D items in the scene and notice the report on the right side of the screen (that is where your attributes, Vs, Vp, Density, etc...would appear when the point is clicked) http://www.arcgis.com/apps/CEWebViewer/viewer.html?3dWebScene=2008bddb985b4adda0eca7e0b962ac4c This one has geologic layers. You might consider something like this but make the sub surface layers semi - transparent...and add your points below the surface. Their is also the ArcGIS online Scene option, but I am not sure how it works with sub-surface data. Good luck man, happy 2017!

Hello! and Happy 2017! I am trying to insert (i operation) two pre-made static models for a lite rail stop model. When I drag and drop the models into the scene they look fine. However, when I use the i() operation through a rule...part of the textures are missing. I know the dae files pointing to correct textures because I can drag and drop the models...and I have tried geometry cleanup operation...but still no luck.

This could possibly have something to do with the scene version. I ran into loading and crashing issues with older 2.0 version scenes. What version scene are you using?

Does anyone know of a way I can make an application where the user can input basic zoning parameters to a zone type...and generate a simple massing on a map using parcel data. This would be similar to CityEngine functionality but less detailed and consumable by an end user. For example... User inputs front setback, rear setback, height limit, and use...and a simple 3D building massing generates on the 3D map (perhaps generated onto an ArcGIS online Scene that is being used in the app) The reason I ask is because a company has pitched an application that does this very thing at my job. I think it is a useful app, but I feel like I should be able to build this myself with parcel data, CGA rules, and ArcGIS online Scenes. Is there a 3D Api that lets me generate models within an existing scene? or do the models have to be completely built inside of CE or ArcPro and then exported as static (non-editable) models every time a change is made? I am thinking of something that works like a site-suitability GIS web application, but with geometry changes instead of raster changes.3DWeb GIShttps://community.esri.com/groups/3d-mapping?sr=search&searchId=d856ca4b-ee5b-4fb1-af10-7bdeb96e4b13&searchIndex=2 https://community.esri.com/groups/planning-and-design?sr=search&searchId=7e732a5e-6a91-4eb1-9a7f-d68278f54a70&searchIndex=0 Thank you in advance for your suggestions, thoughts, or comments.

Hmm. It seems like you are adding 2 faces on top of each other. Does it flicker when you move around the scene? Can you post the CGA code?

Thanks! I did not realize reporting something in a Rule would cause an empty shape after I already textured that shape.

I cannot seem to get the script to work. I really needed to export the scene this morning so I can render a video by the end of the day for a website. I am just going to have to use the old video with a disclaimer until I can either open my scenes in CE2015 or LumenRT makes the export plugin work for CE2016. I can rebuild my scene in 2015, but I dont want to do that because it will take too long. I agree...I have made some really cool videos with LumenRT, but I have learned to save often. It crashes or freezes a lot (especially when generating lights). A strong computer and decreasing the quality during editing seems to work fine for me, but I wish they would make the editing mode work better and faster (maybe a textureless wireframe view, bookmarks, zoom to, a better animation path editor that works faster, faster video render, etc..). One of the most annoying things I have found is that if I select an object to bring in the scene...sometimes it just freezes that object and I cant place it and select another. haha Maybe Bentley will improve it over time.

I have the LumenRT GeoDesign plugin for CityEngine, but it does not seem to work in CE 2016. I am happy with CE 2016, but I need to open a scene with 2015.1 long enough to use the plugin....However, when I try to load my .cej file from 2015.1....it just shows a blank viewport with no layers and gives me an error of having the wrong version of a cej file. How can i revert back to the old version?
