Holy cow, I can't believe this has been an issue for a couple years and not resolved. Yes, this is how we create smaller sized .pdfs that can be easily emailed. This is a major shortcoming!

Being able to change the "Override" field in annotation, currently uneditable. I converted some labels that have a background, like a flag, to annotation and have arranged them just how I like. I often will use the 'Substitute symbols in a collection' in order to make the label background to a different color to display the differences between features. I noticed that some features have a different value for the 'Override' field and have determined that those with a higher value include the function to inhibit the background substitution, preventing me from changing the label backgrounds. Not sure how that happened in the first place, but now I need to change that. According to the documentation, this cannot be changed. I have several hundred labels so I don't really want to recreate. Additionally, I don't know why this affected some labels and not others. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/help/data/annotation/managing-annotation-feature-class-properties.htm

Yes! You could do this with Production Mapping on desktop, it's very hard to make the switch to Pro for several figures for this reason. Use the symbology from a layer on the map, then it's consistent with what's on the map. Such a cool feature I need in Pro!

I came here to find out if this was a possibility, you could do with Production Mapping on desktop. I used to make each row a different background based on attributes. Did you create an idea? I'll go vote for it!

wow, I am floored by the discontinuation of this very useful feature of map annotation. Like the person in the other post, it does not make sense to have hundreds of feature classes of essentially the same feature class but created specifically for one layout. Well, maybe if we make enough noise, ESRI will realize how much of the legacy desktop tools folks really used. Like "Map to KML", seriously, how could they have just taken that away????

In Desktop, I used to be able to use the 'Select Elements' tool copy features from an annotation feature class and paste into an annotation group stored in the map. This was super helpful since our base annotation layers though helpful, needed to be further arranged specifically for each map and therefore always needed to be copied into a mxd's annotation layer and arranged to meet the map's need. I'm trying to replicate this process in Pro and I can't seem to find a way to do. The only way to select a feature class annotation feature is to use the select features pointer. There doesn't seem to be a select tool that will recognize both FC Annotation and graphic elements like desktop. Also, one of my colleagues noticed that when you import an mxd into a Pro map, the map annotation does not import. Please tell me I'm overlooking something really basic for creating an annotation stored in the map group!

Thanks @jcarlson @JoshuaBixby @DuncanHornby , I must have an earlier version of ARCADE since only IndexOf worked...and like a charm! Sure wish there was a 'google translate' between programming languages, that should have been much easier to figure out than it was!

These seems elementary, but I'm not finding it. I am building an attribute rule using Arcade and I would like to select several different values to meet a criteria. In SQL, I could do: IF(fieldname IN ("value1","value2","value3")) But in ARCADE, I can only seem to do: IF(fieldname == "value1" || fieldname == "value2" || fieldname == "value3" ) Is there a way to simplify this expression like using the "IN" as in SQL?

How does this not have more kudos? This has been such a limitation, we rely on feature linked annotation and have to manually update annotation for attributes in related tables.

@KoryKramer , yes, this looks like the same idea, happy to merge! This didn't come up in my search, I should have used 'anchor points' as a key term. Thanks for checking!

I create annotation for feature classes with hundreds of features and need the ability to select and move many anno features at once. I have this ability in Desktop, but it appears that in Pro, you are able to only select and move only one feature at a time. I would like the ability to select and move more than one feature in Pro like you can in Desktop. If you are actually able to do this in Pro, let me know what I should do (I still don't have a firm grasp of how Pro works yet, lol) 😄 In Desktop: select and move more than one anno feature >:( In Pro, can only select and move one anno feature at a time

Richard, this looks really awesome! Have you tried to make a related annotation feature class using this method?
