Dear all, I am drawing a storage area. and at the moment i am struggling with the containers. Those are an imported shapefile. The containers have always the same height = 2.6. The goal is to randomize several heights (multiples of 2.6 to a maximum of 10.4 = 4 containers over each other). and colors. This is my failed attempt. I'am sure is simpler than this. I just probably went in the wrong direction. @StartRule attr A= 2.6 attr B= 5.2 attr C= 7.6 attr D= 10.4 Containers--> extrude (rand(2.6, 2.6), rand (5.2,5.2), rand(7.6,7.6), rand(10.4,10.4)) HGT HGT--> case HGT == A: ContainerColor else: case HGT== B: split(y) {'0.5 : ContainerColor | ~0.5: ContainerColor} case HGT==C: split(y) {'0.33 : ContainerColor | '0.33 : ContainerColor | ~0.33: ContainerColor} else: split(y) {'0.25 : ContainerColor | '0.25 : ContainerColor | '0.25 : ContainerColor | ~0.25: ContainerColor} ContainerColor--> color(rand(0,1), rand(0,1))

Thanks, for the negative answer! at least i know it is impossible and not going around looking for a solution. Your suggestion it is very good. In fact I'll may use it for explanation over certain areas! therefore more than one 'cube'. cheers Pedro

Thanks, but it seems that this menu is available only if you publish to ArcGIS Online. What I am trying to do is to publish a offline webscene using the CityEngine's File/Models - CityEngine WebScene. And provide the *.3ws to a user in a "usb data storage". I have been all around the CE preferences and properties but I haven't found nothing to create the description. So the question remains. Cheers Pedro

Hello, I have seen several CE Web Scenes and all of those have the title as it is set in the City Engine. But where I am struggling is to complete the information tab that comes with the webscene. How can I add information to this tab? Sorry if someone else made this question before but I didn't find it. cheers Pedro

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way of changing the defaults for the streets and intersections. This way I could draw my streets with design that i elected. If it is not possible is there a way to manipulate the intersections in a rule file? I tried also with a rule but I got stuck with the intersections. I don't know how to "call" the "minArcRadius" The final goal, it is a street with no sidewalk and sharp corners. I have done a rule file. Here is the extract related with the street: : @StartRule sidewalkWidthLeft = (geometry.dv(0,unitSpace)) sidewalkWidthRight = (geometry.dv(0,unitSpace)) minArcRadius = 0 I assumed that by giving the direct name of the attributes present in the inspector it would work. But in fact in the inspector when I select a segment there is no start rule. Sidewalk --> split(v,unitSpace,0) {1 : Curbs | 0: Pavement} Curbs--> extrude (0) Pavement extrude (0) Here I copy an existing rule "street modern simple". but again it didn't work. I had a look (in fact I am still doing it) to a rule file named "Complete street simple" but appear to be just for streets with sidewalks; although it looks very complete it does not have any example without sidewalk. thanks in advance Pedro

Thanks I did exactly that! I replace the street.front by front, etc. However the result is still not ok. I will try do do it as you say! with the shapeO operation. the goal is to identify the structure in an area under construction. Using a rule file to identify which type of structure it is being built there. after finally using the statistics to show the possible future change. cheers Pedro

Hi, I have manage to do different setbacks to my lot!!!! Thanks to the forum! However the result only works when the lot has subdivision (shapes/block parameters/type/...). If I pretend to do something like in the figure. How could I change my rule to do it? Lot--> setback (9) {street.front : NIL | remainder : setback (3.9) {street.back: NIL | remainder: setback (4.46) {street.side: NIL | remainder: Grow } } } Grow--> extrude(rand(6,8)) Thanks in advance Pedro

This where I am. ####Attributes### attr height = rand(20, 50) attr distanceStreet = 0 ####Start### Lot --> Parcel Parcel --> setback(distanceStreet) { street.front: Parking | street.back : Backside | street.right : Rightside | street.left : Leftside | remainder: Footprint } Footprint --> extrude(height) Parking --> offset (8) Backside --> offset (3.9) Rightside--> offset (5) Leftside--> Offset (4.46) could you help? cheers Pedro

Hello, I have been trying for a while with the resources available in CE help. I got to a point that there is no error on the rule file... but nothing happen. in copy i put my rule (notepad) it seems I can't copy the rule file here without strange behavior of the text box. ####Attributes###
attr height =
rand(20, 50)
attr distanceStreet = 0
####Start###
Lot --> Parcel
Parcel -->
setback(distanceStreet)
{ street.front: Parking | street.back : Backside | street.right : Rightside | street.left : Leftside | remainder: Footprint }
Footprint --> extrude(height)
Parking -->
offset (8)
Backside -->
offset (3.9)
Rightside-->
offset (5)
Leftside-->
Offset (4.46) any suggestion would be great! Pedro
