@wilcow - Let me try to explain. Geodatabase Traditional Versioning: You have child versions of sde.default that you reconcile and post to sde.default, then via ArcGIS Pro you can see that the edits are now present in the sde.default, but if you look the featureclass or table directly in the database you might not see that the edits are there, then you decide to run a sde compress, this shall then move the rows from the delta tables ( Adds Table and Deletes Table ) to the base table (traditional versioning), in a normal situation this is what will happen, but there are many factors that can make the data to remain in the delta tables, for example, it might have child version of sde.default that are pinning the state lineage version tree, hence the sde compress cannot move the rows, the sde compress will still trim the state lineage tree, but only after those child versions are reconciled, posted and deleted that the sde compress will be able to move the rows from the delta tables to the base tables. This situation and others are well explained in the training classes below. Implementing Versioned Workflows in a Multiuser Geodatabase | Esri Training Instructor-Led Course Deploying and Maintaining a Multiuser Geodatabase | Esri Training Instructor-Led Course You might never be able to achieve state 0 with sde compress if you need to keep child versions of sde.default, the only way is to reconcile, post and delete all child versions and then run sde compress multiple times. And after that you need to gather new statistics and rebuild indexes (attribute indexes and spatial indexes) and gather new statistics again. Geodatabase SQL Access: Now, if you have an external application that needs to access the data, then that application can use the multi-versioned views to query the geodatabase data in the sde.default version. For more information see the documentation below. SQL access to enterprise geodatabase data—ArcMap | Documentation (arcgis.com) ArcGIS Compatibility: About ArcGIS Server 10.6.1 & ArcGIS Pro & Geodatabase ArcSDE Repository Compatibility. Client and geodatabase compatibility—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Client and geodatabase compatibility—ArcGIS Server | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise You do not have to keep your geodatabase and ArcGIS clients at the same release, but it is recommended that you do so. Geodatabases and client software are designed to work together, and if you let one get too many releases away from the other, you risk encountering problems or unexpected behavior. This is especially true when you use a mix of client versions at your site. A newer client can create newer dataset types in the geodatabase that older clients cannot access. For enterprise geodatabases, waiting too long between geodatabase upgrades may mean you have to upgrade the underlying database more than once before you can upgrade the geodatabase. ArcMap 10.6.1 & ArcGIS Server 10.6.1 are retired as January 1, 2024. | Version | Release date | General Availability | Extended | Mature | Retired | ArcMap Life Cycle | Esri Support 10.6.1 July 17, 2018 Jul 2018–Dec 2019 Jan 2020–Dec 2021 Jan2022–Dec 2023 January 1, 2024 ArcGIS Enterprise Life Cycle | Esri Support 10.6.1 July 17, 2018 Jul 2018–Dec 2019 Jan 2020–Dec 2021 Jan 2022–Dec 2023 January 1, 2024 IMPORTANT NOTE: ArcGIS 10.8.2 is the current release of ArcMap and will continue to be supported until March 01, 2026. We do not have plans to release an ArcMap 10.9.x. This means the 10.8.x series will be the final release series of ArcMap and will be supported until March 01, 2026. REMARKS: If you want to use ArcGIS Server with ArcGIS Pro then the advice is to move the deployment to a more recent release, it might be difficult to upgrade your current environment, and it might be easier to create new servers, deploy and configure the new ArcGIS software and republish the ArcGIS Server Services. @CodyPatterson - I usually avoid using the ArcGIS Pro GP Tools to gather new statistics and to rebuild indexes (attribute indexes and spatial indexes ) in my production geodatabases because these tools to not offer advanced options that you find with the SQL Server SQL Commands to do the same. I suggest you use the SQL Server Tools to do this maintenance. You can find my maintenance scripts for SQL Server in my community.esri.com blog below, download the database template scripts for SQL Server. Yes, those tables must be reindexed as well, probably not every day, as you will not be creating new featureclasses, etc. in the geodatabase, but you should reorganize indexes weekly and rebuild indexes monthly at least for the ArcSDE Repository Tables, and right after that gather new statistics. For reference to others about this discussion follow below the links for the ArcGIS Pro GP Tools. @ScottFortman1 - here is how to delete the Subtype field in ArcGIS Pro. These steps should have worked for you in Pro as well. ArcGIS Pro 3.2.2 > Data Design > Fields "Delete" is disabled for the *Subtype field. Workaround ArcGIS Pro 3.2.2 > Data Design > Subtypes Subtypes > Create/Manage Subtype Field: <Clear all subtypes...> Click OK Click Save Close the Subtypes tab Open the Fields tab select the Subtype field > right click > choose delete Click Save The Subtype field was removed.

yes, you cannot delete the *Subtype field if the Featureclass was created with one from the beginning, this because the *Subtype field is how the data gets organized, hence the only way around this is to create a new Featureclass without the *Subtype field and reload the data.

@ScottFortman1 - ArcGIS Pro will not let you delete the *Subtype field, that is expected behavior. You will need to create a new empty Featureclass with the new fields and domains that you want then you will reload the data using the old Featureclass.

@ScottFortman1 - If you are using an ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase then you can be locking yourself, try to close ArcGIS Pro / ArcCatalog, then connect again with the data owner user, do not click any other geodatabase connection file, and try again to make the schema change, you also need to ask all other users to disconnect and stop all ArcGIS Server Services that use the ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase that you are trying to make schema changes.

@JummaKhan - this is a very complex question actually. 1. the first step is to design the type of ArcGIS Enterprise deployment that you need and which ArcGIS Enterprise components and extensions that you will need, e.g. Portal, Server, DataStore, etc. 2. determine how many VMs in the deployment, and the size in terms of cpu, memory, disk, network of each machine. 3. then determine the ArcGIS Enterprise Licenses that you will need to buy for your deployment and determine if you can use any of your existing licenses in the Cloud. You will need to discuss this with your Esri account manager. 4. You can reach out to Esri Professional Services to perform a System Architecture Design for you and to estimate the size of the VMs for your workload. GIS Consulting Services | Consulting & Project Services (esri.com) 5. Then, with the System Architecture Design information you can use the Cloud Cost Estimate Tool to determine the monthly cost of the deployment in the cloud. Pricing Calculator | Microsoft Azure AWS Pricing Calculator 6. Optionally you can reach out to Esri Managed Services if you prefer to have Esri to manage for you the ArcGIS Enterprise in the Cloud (AWS or Azure). Managed Cloud Services | GIS Cloud Hosting (esri.com) 7. Another viable option is to explore ArcGIS Online, but that might not offer all the features that you need, and you might need to go with ArcGIS Enterprise in the Cloud. ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise? You don’t have to choose. (esri.com) I hope this helps.

@anbinh there are many changes in Pro 3.2 that Pro 2.9 cannot recognize Pro 2.9 is old and cannot work with a geodatabase arcsde repository upgraded with Pro 3.2 a new version of Pro can connect and work with a geodatabase arcsde repository that is in a lower version but an old version of Pro might find problems to connect and/or work with a geodatabase arcsde repository that was upgraded with a new version of Pro therefore, users running Pro 2.9 will have to upgrade to Pro 3.2 to avoid unexpected behavior while accessing a geodatabase arcsde repository that was upgraded with Pro 3.2 read more below.
