Hey, What is the best way to update a SQL table (non-spatial)? I only want to add records, not edit them. My plan is to create a graphic point, run a query to get the attribute information and pass the attributes to the SQL table with a WCF service. Is that a good workflow? Silverlight 3.2, SQL 2008 R2 Thanks, Chris

I put this code in the MainPage.xaml.cs and it works for me. private void Legend_Refreshed(object sender, ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Toolkit.Legend.RefreshedEventArgs e) { // remove useless street map sublayers if (e.LayerItem.Layer.ID == "BaseLayer") e.LayerItem.IsHidden = true; if (e.LayerItem.Layer is GraphicsLayer) { if (e.LayerItem.Layer is FeatureLayer) { if (e.LayerItem.Layer.ID == "PLSSFeatureLayer" || e.LayerItem.Layer.ID == "TownshipRange" || e.LayerItem.Layer.ID == "CurrentYearLightningFeatureLayer") { e.LayerItem.IsHidden = true; } else { e.LayerItem.IsHidden = false; } } else { e.LayerItem.IsHidden = true; } } Legend legend = sender as Legend; _theObservableCollection = MyLegend.LayerItems; foreach (LayerItemViewModel livm in _theObservableCollection) // changed to the global { livm.IsExpanded = false; } if (e.LayerItem.LayerItems != null) { foreach (LayerItemViewModel layerItemVM in e.LayerItem.LayerItems) { if (layerItemVM.IsExpanded) layerItemVM.IsExpanded = false; if (layerItemVM.LayerItems != null) foreach (var item in layerItemVM.LayerItems) item.IsExpanded = false; if (layerItemVM.LayerItems != null) foreach (LayerItemViewModel sublayerItemVM in layerItemVM.LayerItems) if (sublayerItemVM.IsExpanded) sublayerItemVM.IsExpanded = false; } } else { e.LayerItem.IsExpanded = false; } }

Hey, Is it possible to create a georeferenced PDF from the print task. This would be the same as when you export a PDF in ArcMap. Thanks, Chris

Another way to do this is to make a Thiessen polygon from the city points using the Create Thiessen Polygons (Analysis) command. Then just do a identify on the Thiessen polygons with your input point. Include the coordinates of the cities in the polygon, and you can find the distance and direction too.

Hey, Has anybody figured this out? I have been trying to publish a stream layer with labels, and the labels are pixilated and have a halo while in Silverlight. This does not happen when I look at the service in ArcMap. The label properties in the mxd do not have halos, nor I am using maplex. Any ideas? Chris

The addition of RAM fixed the problem. The large increase in services that we created really impacted the memory which did not allow the print geoprocessing task to work. It worked after adding the RAM. Chris

You can set the where clause in the xaml. see this example http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/silverlight-api/samples/start.htm#FeatureLayerFiltering Chris

I believe that the problem occured due to the low amount of RAM available. I am increasing the RAM and hoping that will fix the problem. CB

Hi, I am using ArcServer 10.1 and silverlight 4. My print tool stopped working yesterday and gave me the error message: ERROR 000819: The tool is not assigned. This tool has been working for months. I created a new print task and got the same error. I have checked and all the services are working. Does anybody know anything about this? Chris

Gary, It seems to me that your distances are incorrect because you are working with lat lon coordinates. Lat lon is an angular measurement. You would be better off using a projected coordinate system, or at least project your lat lon points then do the trig. Chris

Hey, Our 10.1 printing solution was not working for some of our users. They would click the export map button and nothing would happen, except they would get an "angry star" icon. One of the users determined that it was caused by the google toolbar on internet explorer, which was blocking the map window from popping up (thus the angry star). This happened even though the pop up blocker was disabled. Once the google toolbar was uninstalled, it worked. They also upgraded to Adobe reader 11, which seemed to help. I just wanted to share this in case someone else has this problem. Chris
