Lovin' the forcescaleonswitch and autoswitchtoscale features of the emapSwitcher - this is very useful when Esri's basemaps only go to 1:4000... The tiled Esri basemaps I am using only go to 1:4513 but I need to make my map zoom to a scale of 1:564. So, what I am doing, which works not too badly, is once I hit 1:2256 i use autoswitchtoscale to make sure Esri's Topo layer is selected (as dynamic) - this at least gives me a white background I can work with to overlay some of my own layers. This works all the way down to 1:564. What I need to do is be able to automatically have the dynamic version of the topo switch to tiled at 1:4513 when the user zooms back out...so pretty much the same method as autoswitchtoscale except that it also works in reverse when zooming back out. Or, does anyone have any suggestions to make sure the 'Image not yet available' never appears while at the same time autoamtically showing at least some sort of white background to overlay my operational layers on.

Robert, Thanks, I'm going to try to bring your TOC 2.5 in to 3.0. I faintly recall a url on the forum here somewhere about a doc that you wrote for migrating from 2.5 to 3.0 - could you provide me with that link please? I am getting the following errors and hope that your doc can help me with: - Access of possibly undefined property id through a reference with static type com.esri.ags.layers.supportClasses:layerInfo
- Access of undefined property JSON
- Can not resolve a multiname reference unambiguously. JSON Thanks for your help as always!

Dang...so would it be possible to port the last version that had that capability so it would work in flexviewer 3? Or would it be easier to find those sections in the code and try to put them into the 3.0 version? I really need to make this work so do you have any suggestions for me, Robert?

In the previous TOC (2.5) when you exlcuded a later in the xml it removed it from the TOC but was still visible on the map...in the new version (3.0) an excluded layer is removed from both the TOC and the map. Is there any way I can use the TOC 3.0 and still remove layers from the TOC but have them remaining on the map? Thanks

im gonna post here again in case someone else needs to know... turns out I was only temporarily right, adding the json mime type worked for about 5 or 6 exports and then the same error (as above) returned... back to the drawing board...

I got it working, after I enabled the JSON mime type on the server (Windows Server 2008R2, IIS 7) it works fine. Here were my steps: Open IIS Manager Display properties for the IIS Server Click MIME Types and then add the JSON extension: File name extension: .json MIME type: application/x-javascript Go back to the properties for IIS Server Click on Handler Mappings Add a script map Request path: *.json Executable: C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\asp.dll Name: JSON By the way, being able to send a map to our own layouts is pretty great...kudos

Using the server 10.1 and flexviewer 3.0 I am getting the following error after creating my own printing service (so that I can create custom layouts): Error executing print task: [RPC Fault faultString="Unexpected < encountered at location 5" faultCode="null" faultDetail="null"] I followed the instructions here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Publishing_additional_services_for_printing/00570000009s000000/ I registered my folder containing the mxds with the server manager and when i load my web app i can see all of my mxds available as options in the "Layout templates" dropdown box using the out-of-the-box print widget. As soon as I switch the <taskurl> in the printwidget.xml to use esri's service my print widget works fine... Any thoughts?

I was able to change the step intervals not by changing the code in the widget, but rather changing the values in layer properties in ArcMap...look under Layer Properties --> Time, and then change the Time Step Interval and those changes should be reflected in your app.

If you download the api you can go to a 'mobile' folder (arcgis_api_for_flex_3_0\ArcGIS_Flex\mobile...) and load in 2 flex projects into flash builder. They are not the flexviewer equivalent to mobile, but they show you a starting point. Also, if using the flash builder 4.5 or 4.6 I think you can package up your mobile project for apple/android/blackberry all from one code base! I was just curious once so I loaded these sample projects into flash builder and emulated them on a couple different mobile devices, but that's as far as I got.

Thanks. My findings: Enterprise is needed to setup a multiple server environment running on a fully functional RDBMS. Workgroup components must all be installed on the same machine.
