How to set the coordinates for the shap file? Using with ArcCateLog tools convert the cad dwg file into shap file. Now we can know the longitude and latitude of ten points on the cad dwg file, how to set the coordinate of shap file. We should publish the shap file data as restful webservice.

The base picture of map is 'CAD Dwg' files. There is a fence on a map. We can know latitude and longitude coordinates of ten points on the cad file. 1.Could "acrgis for server" translate "cad file" directly without "acrgis for desktop"? Need "acrgis for desktop"? 2.Could build the map service using the 'CAD Dwg' files and 'latitude and longitude coordinates of ten points on the cad file'? Especially for the coordinates of the fence drawing on the cad file. If can, how to operate? Is there similar demo or tutorial to reference?

How to develop a custom map with ArcGIS? There are some objects are moving on the map. The base picture of map is 'CAD Dwg' files. I can know the latitude and longitude of the map with 'GPS'. I can know the latitude and longitude of the objects which is moving on the map with 'GPS'. It should not be developed on the GPS API. I can only get the latitude and longitude by GPS with hardware devices. There are some questions to ask: 1、Is there similar js framework to use? 2、Is there similar demo to reference? 3、Is there similar algorithm to achieve? Thinking with myself. 4、Should the map must use canvas to achieve? Is there other way? 5、Is it necessary to convert dwg to a picture, for example png, jpg? 6、How to set the coordinate system of map is better? 7、How to draw the dots on the map? 8、How to connect the dots be a line? I haven't done anything like this. Please master to give directions and help me. Thank you very much, master.

Some questions about development of "ArcGIS". Problem one: Use "ESRI API" (ArcGIS for Silverlight, ArcGIS for Winform API) , call "Google" , "Bing", "ArcGIS Online" services , Thinking is this???? Realize the map navigation. Problem two: We have "ArcGIS 10.0" client software "license", whether can use "ArcGIS" fee services??? Problem third: Use "ArcGIS 10.0" client software built data model and so on , whether we can upload to the "ArcGIS" official website. And then develop our own service, then be called and in the application be used. For example: a "GIS" information of campus . Problem forth: Use "ArcGIS 10.0" client software built data model and so on deploy on local database . "On the local server" whether can also releas e services and use the "ESRI API" (ArcGIS for Silverlight, ArcGIS for Winform API) , "in the local area network" development "AcrGIS" applications with the local server service? ?? For example: In a campus, use "ArcGIS 10.0" client software create the local database, the map model, and then release services. And the services be used by applications ,such as "Silverlight, Winform, Web", etc. But shall not upload the data to "ArcGIS official website", Is that OK? ? My understanding of AcrGIS not many, thank you very much...

Don't forget to rate posts if they are helpful then. There are many ArcGIS Server REST services available for free to you: http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services http://sampleserver2.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services http://sampleserver3.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services And many more. You don't to have to have ArcGIS Server license in order to use those services. If you have bought ArcGIS Server, then you can create your own services and consume them locally in your own applications. Bing Maps is not free per se for programmatic consumption - the access comes with ArcGIS Desktop license (so you can add Bing Maps as a basemap) and ArcGIS Server license (is in the license file with keycodes). You'd need to use the Bing Maps key in your local ArcGIS Server installation if you are planning to add Bing Maps to your applications. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserver/10.0/help/arcgis_server_dotnet_help/index.html#/Discovering_your_Bing_Maps_key_in_Manager/00930000008m000000/ Not sure what you mean here 🙂 Tank you very much... You mean the following service is free to use can be? ESRI_Imagery_World_2D (MapServer) ESRI_StreetMap_World_2D (MapServer) I3_Imagery_Prime_World (GlobeServer) NASA_CloudCover_World (GlobeServer) NatGeo_World_Map (MapServer) NGS_Topo_US_2D (MapServer) Ocean_Basemap (MapServer) USA_Topo_Maps (MapServer) World_Imagery (MapServer) World_Physical_Map (MapServer) World_Shaded_Relief (MapServer) World_Street_Map (MapServer) World_Terrain_Base (MapServer) World_Topo_Map (MapServer) Tnanks a lot... Have a similar Demo can reference?

This is the wrong forum. This is the right one: http://forums.arcgis.com/forums/211-ArcGIS-Viewer-for-Silverlight There are many basemaps available including but not limited to Bing Maps. The web help page: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/silverlightviewer/help/index.html#/Application_Builder/01770000000n000000/ What is a "custom 3D map"? An ArcGlobe document? Then nope, it can visualize only with 2D data since it consumes map services. There is some development on 3D in Silverlight: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/apl/2010/10/08/3d-terrain-mapping-in-a-browser/. Silverlight 4 as far as I know does not support 3D, which means ArcGIS API for Silverlight does not support working in 3D either. The 3D support may come in Silverlight 5, and maybe Esri will implement something for 3D. You might check the ArcGIS Explorer Desktop which can work with 3D-data: http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/explorer/demos.html. Nope. General overview: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/silverlightviewer/index.html Thanks a lot... One: Should use "ArcGIS Server REST services" be charge ? What service is free? Bing maps service is not free??? Two: Must call service? Create your own map not line? Like the 2D custom maps , not 3D...

1: What ever you want, Bing maps, ArcGIS Server/Online, OpenStreetMap, WMS, WMTS, [Insert custom layer type here] 2: No. 3: It depends. For some uses it's free, for others it's not. You should contact your local esri dealer for specific details on licensing and price. Also when using Bing Maps, you will need to license that data from Microsoft as well. Thanks a lot... Hi, 1. ArcGIS for Silverlight can use maps from ArcGIS Server REST services and other basemaps from ArcGIS online and also from Microsoft Bing. 2. For custom 3D Maps I am not sure , since it has been done in one of the samples. 3. ArcGIS for Silverlight is a freely downloadable API from ESRI. Thanks a lot...
