Hi Joe, This is the code that I used and published, but it wasn't giving me upper case text when I test in neither ArcPro nor in the web app. I checked, the column name is proper name - Comments. var cmts = $feature.Comments Upper(cmts) return cmts; So I changed it to be this: var cmts = $feature.Comments return Upper(cmts); And it worked - go figure. Thanks for the validation that I was using the correct item, just slightly wrong syntax. Lorinda

Hi All, Is there a way in ArcPro that I could first test that a field has a value, if it doesn't, then have it select a value from a specific attribute in another feature class or a map service? It would have to be from something that we don't have as a feature service since the data we are pulling the attribute from is not owned/maintained by us. Edited: Reason for looking for an attribute rule method is that the client doesn't necessarily want to use a web app for editing the data. Wants to learn to use ArcPro, but data edited has specific items to be added and calculated as data entered. Moving from stored procedures in Oracle forms to graphic editing. Thanks, Lorinda

Hi All, Is there an attribute rule or a setting in the egdb that would enforce that all text entered in an attribute field would be upper case - no matter how it was typed? Thanks, Lorinda

Especially when you are using data that you don't maintain but have the map service for. It should never be in the datastore if you don't own/maintain it.

I tried it with an attribute rule. var cmts = $feature.Comments Upper(cmts) return cmts; Applied after adding test string, still lower case. Did I miss something in this one? Did as a calculation rule, maybe it should be a constraint rule?

Hi All, Working on setting up a project and the client has asked if there is a way to enforce a column's value to always be upper case. I see the arcade function of Upper(value), tested it and it didn't do what I expected. Any sage advice out there for how to do this? It will be published to be used in a web app as well. Thanks, Lorinda

I've engaged Tech Support, been working on it for about three weeks now. Had an issue where the AR in the FGDB using ArcPro worked, but not the EGDB, that turned out to be my goof up - changed the codes for the domains, but forgot to change the if, then, else statements in my ARs. Corrected that, it works now in ArcPro with both FGDB and EGDB, but not in the web map or app. Not passing the calculation back thru to the field for some reason. I really hate to think that we will have to train folks (non GIS users) to use ArcPro when they had a hard enough time with ArcMap. That's what the web apps are supposed to be for - supply the ability to update data without having to have the full blown bloated software that they would only use about 0.1% of it.

Hi, We're in the process of upgrading servers from 2012 to 2019 - both OS and SQL Server. We have licenses for both Enterprise and Standard SQL. What are the pros and cons of each? We have at least two servers that will have the potential of several thousand users hitting it, the others will be limited to about 100 or less users, but could have heavy geoprocessing performed against the data stored there. Thanks, Lorinda

Hi All, Have spend many a day working on getting syntax correct for Attribute Rules in ArcPro to be able to publish a map/feature service to our enterprise portal for use in a web app. Rules work as expected in ArcPro, but do not seem to be working in either Smart Editor or Editor widgets. Nor do they work in the web map while editing. I've published with a registered datasource, saved the attribute rules in the project (and in the sde where the data is living - as evidenced by not being able to do anything to the data via arccatalog), added the updated feature service to the web map Have I missed something here? Thanks, Lorinda

Hi All, I'm creating attribute rules for a project and believe that I need to publish the data as a hosted feature service rather than a feature access service. My question is where does this data actually get stored? I think I read that it was a PostgreSQL database at one time (even though our enterprise data is in SQL Server). If this is the case, what is the name of the database and where is it located? I need to be able to perform backups of the data as it is parcel sensitive data that must be reported on each year. We will also be moving our streets and situs address layers to this format, that also has to be backed up nightly or twice a day. I've found the command line for performing the backup, but do need to know the name of the database as well. We have a federated Portal, so if the hosted feature service can be in our enterprise database, that would be great, it already has scheduled jobs for backups. Additionally, if it is a hosted feature service that is not in the enterprise database schema, since I also need to be able to show this data in web apps, how do I publish a map service for viewing? All of the services will need to be able to be viewed via an enterprise wide map service. Also, can this data be set up for replication in order to have outside the firewall? If not, then as long as I can locate the data in the database, I can set up FME (data interoperability) to be able to update the data in child databases. I'm new to this part of the equation and need to set it up as efficiently as possible with little to no chance of data integrity failure. Thanks, Lorinda

Hi All, I really appreciate the help that's being offered. I've been searching for how to do nested if then now and have gotten hung up again. I'm sure that it is something that I'm overlooking, but I've tried many iterations and still get that I have 'Unexpected Identifier' on line 31, the last else if. This is the testing that I'm using in the playground. Thanks, Lorinda var billclass = "V" var dor = 6400 var parea = 3457 var newfee = 0 var pimparea = 1500; var dwell = 2; var ouswmm = "Y" if (parea > 0 && (billclass == "V") && (dor < 6647 && dor > 5399)) { newfee = Round(((parea/43560)*(12*0.1*5.99))+119.88,2) } else if (parea > 43560 && (billclass == "V") && (dor < 5400 || dor > 6647)) { newfee = Round((parea/43560)*(12*(4.0 +(0.2*5.99))),2) } else if (parea <= 43560 && (billclass == "V")) { newfee = Round((12*(4.0 +(0.2*5.99))),2) } else { if ((billclass == "M") && ((pimparea/2000) < (1.15 * dwell)) && (ouswmm == "N")) { newfee = Round((pimparea/2000)*(12*(4.00 + (1.0* 5.99))),2) } else if ((billclass == "M") && (pimparea/2000 < (1.15 * dwell)) && (ouswmm == "Y")) { newfee = Round((pimparea/2000)*(12*(4.00 + (0.3* 5.99))),2) } else if ((billclass == "M") && (pimparea/2000 >= (1.15 * dwell)) && (ouswmm == "N")) { newfee = ((119.88*1.15)*dwell) } else if ((billclass == "M") && (pimparea/2000 >= (1.15 * dwell)) && (ouswmm == "Y")) { newfee = ((69.56*1.15)*dwell) } else if billclass == "M" && newfee < 5 { newfee = 5 } } } Console (newfee)

Thanks, was going to edit the post to say that I saw the link afterwards, but you beat me to it. Hazards of having an eye infection, things are a bit blurry. I'll take a look at your suggestions, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out the proper terms for looking up some of these things and having troubles with it. But bookmarking several items for the next go around with this exercise. Have a few legacy apps to migrate to new and hopefully improved processes. Thanks, Lorinda

Where do you find this playground for testing commands? I've not seen it yet. I can see where it could be really useful. BTW, love your 'signature'; I can relate 😅 Thanks, Lorinda

Hi All, I've gotten past that first hurtle, have three attribute rules validating and saved in the project - still have to test to see if they are doing as expected though. That's another day. I've now run into a situation where I need to do another if/then/else statement, but need to have it with two parts. If field1 == value && field2 between "0123" and "1789" - yes, the values are stored as text. Can this be done? I've tried to find some examples, but may not be putting the proper search string in. Thanks for your help! Lorinda

Alas, that didn't solve the expected open parenthesis error. Haven't checked what Joe Borgione mentioned with the two items on one line yet and the &&. Had to start on another project in FME right now. Will try this again tomorrow.
