Hi all, I wanted to look into our database performance, since every time we open a connection to it, it takes around 20 to 30 seconds to open. We have an enterprise geodatabase in SQL Server, and have around 700 feature classes in it. So I am wondering if 30 seconds is a normal time to wait for such a database connection to open. It seems ArcGIS Pro is a little bit faster than ArcMap. I used sdeintercept to create a log and found that there is one big time consuming operation, which is the ExecuteSpatialQuery, by far the most time consuming step in the whole log. I am wondering why a spatial query needs to be executed when opening a database connection. Here's a sample: ======================================== [W 16:42.941] Command: GetDbmsInfo [R 16:42.941] Long: 0 [R 16:42.941] Long: 5 [R 16:42.941] Long: 1096810511 ======================================== [W 16:42.941] Command: ExecuteSpatialQuery [W 16:42.941] Long: 1 [R 17:02.648] Long: 0 ======================================== [W 17:02.648] Command: NextBuffer I hope anyone can shed some light on this, and would also like comments on whether this is a normal wait time for opening an enterprise geodatabase with such a number of feature classes. Joris

@RobertKacir do you mean a group layer with sublayers? I would want to add this function only to single layers, not to group layers.

In the Classic Map Viewer the Zoom to Layer function zoomed in to the visible scale of that layer. In the new Map Viewer that has been changed to zooming in to the full extent of the layer. In my view the zoom to visible scale would be much more useful, but I don't want to deny the usefulness of the zoom to full extent function, so I propose to add the zoom to visible scale function. Preferably it should zoom in to the center of the current map extent, not to the center of the layer, like it does in the Map Viewer Classic. (Another idea would be to let the function depend on whether the layer is currently in its visible scale range or not. So Zoom to Full Extent when it's visible, and Zoom to visible scale when it's not. Any comment? Maybe I should post that as a separate idea.)

Hi Nicolas, If I remember well, I tried to replace a feature class, by removing it and then copying an updated version from another source. However, in the other source, a file geodatabase by the way, two domains that were used by the feature class had a different name. I changed the names of the domains to be identical to the domains in the target database, and then the problem disappeared.

I noticed this error occured when entering your mail address and password as credentials for a layer that asks for authentication, when the mapservice was authorized for a certain AD group. When a mapservice was authorized for anyone within a domain account, you could use your mail address and password, but not when it was authorized for a certain AD group. This was a few weeks ago. I don't know if it's still like that after the update. Regards, Joris

Hi Trevor, I have one user who runs into the same issue with the same message "Attempted to use invalid JSON" in the Collector App, on any device he tries. We are still trying to figure this out. Did you manage to resolve this? Regards,

Hi Jeff, On the remote server Python is not installed. Both environments are Windows Server 2019. Python 2.7.14 is installed, the version that comes with ArcGIS 10.6.1.

I use a task on a remote server to regularly backup our ArcGIS Server site (stand alone). I use PsExec (newest version) to remotely execute it. Since a short time it stopped working with the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\tools\admin\Backup.py", line 202, in <module> sys.exit(backup()) File "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\tools\admin\Backup.py", line 75, in backup token = getToken(serverName, serverPort, protocol, tokenURL, username, password) File "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\tools\admin\Backup.py", line 166, in getToken params = urllib.urlencode({'username': username.decode(sys.stdin.encoding).encode('utf-8'), 'password': password.decode(sys.stdin.encoding).encode('utf-8'),'client': 'referer','referer':'backuputility','f': 'json'}) TypeError: decode() argument 1 must be string, not None So Python does not get the encoding string sys.stdin.encoding anymore. When I start the script on the ArcGIS machine, it runs fine. I am not sure when this stopped working, there haven't been changes on the server except Windows updates and updates of mapservices.

I had to change the sequence of the geocoding services in the organizational settings of ArcGIS Online. The ArcGIS World Geocoding Service had to be on top. This resolved the issue for me.

Hi, Why is the address locator not working in any of the esri apps (Explorer, Collector, Field Maps) on iOS? On Android it's working perfectly. Using the latest version of iOS and the latest versions of the apps. It looks like all of my colleagues are having the same problem. It's the same on several iOS devices, work iPads, different types of (private) iPhones. One would expect some organizational setting, but then why is it working on Android?

It is really hard to track this down. Just as an example the experience I had this morning on my Android phone. I wanted to log into Field Maps, that I installed recently, with an ordinary ArcGIS Online account. After entering the credentials, the app hung. I removed the app and installed it again. The app hung again. I removed the Field Maps app, the Collector App (I was having other issues with the Collector, so I decided to remove it as well), I restarted my phone, installed FIeld Maps again, and then I could login and the app started normally. While around the same time I logged in with the same account on my iPhone without problems. To use a good dutch saying, I can't make cheese of it. Regards, Joris

Same problem here, but not with Portal but just a plain ArcGIS Server service published in AGOL. Version 10.6.1 and version 10.8.1. When adding the mapservice again, adding attachments works. Other editing operations work on the original, just not the attachments.

@ColinLawrence Thanks, good to know. Did you try to reproduce it in the Collector App too? Our local Esri agent advised me to re-install the Collector App, so I did that. Now I'll just wait and see.

@ColinLawrence thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I haven't been clear. I get the untrusted host message in the Collector App, using ArcGIS Online web maps with feature layers based on mapservice from our ArcGIS Server machine. I logged a support request with our Esri agent. Great to hear that Field Maps is getting this update. Will the Collector App follow?
