One caveat, when moving content to another user, seems to be the following: When the content is shared with a group, and the new user is not allowed to contribute to that group, the content will drop out of that group without warning. So better first update the group membership.

Hi, This morning I had a lot of trouble adding new users to ArcGIS Online from a CSV-file. I finally came to the conclusion that the template for the CSV format has changed! Using the new template (you will get the download-link when you go through the process) my problems were solved. Just wanted to let you all know...

It is working now for me in ArcGIS Online, but not in Pro. My Pro version is a bit older, so an older version of the API, maybe that's the problem. However, I have another issue (create a new user) that is not working in ArcGIS Online, but is working in Pro, so yeah, what should I use now...

I am running into the same issue now, but only in ArcGIS Online. However, in ArcGIS Pro, it works, but my version of Pro is a bit older, 1.8.1.

According to the documentation at arcgis.gis module | ArcGIS API for Python this should be possible by using the keyword "admin": group.add_users(usernames=["User1234","User5678"], admin="Admin9012") But I haven't got this working. I get the error message: TypeError: add_users() got an unexpected keyword argument 'admin' Maybe only working in Portal and not in ArcGIS Online?

As far as I can remember, having discussed this with my colleague IT staff members, this is not possible. This is one reason why we will not move this kind of data to Sharepoint/MSTeams.

Wow, this is a topic from long ago, but I still have something to add. I needed this info, but it wasn't complete for me. I found out I need to add "/*" behind the appserver.com, so "appserver.com/*" for this to work, or even more specific "<servername>.appserver.com/*". Thanks also to: https://github.com/Esri/resource-proxy/issues/282

Got it already, the solution was so simple, but for the record I am posting it here. The web map that I wanted to clone had an invalid layer. After removing that layer, the cloning process worked allright.

Hi, I am experimenting with cloning content from ArcGIS Online to Portal. I used the samples from https://developers.arcgis.com/python/guide/cloning-content/#the-cloning-process I succeeded cloning hosted feature layers, web maps and a web mapping application. However I'm now running into an error when cloning web maps with this line of code (which I used succesfully before): cloned_wm = target.content.clone_items(items=[testwm],owner="<portal admin username>") The response is this: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I am busy experimenting with cloning content from ArcGIS Online to Portal, using this very useful page: https://developers.arcgis.com/python/guide/cloning-content/#the-cloning-process However, I am running into a piec of caode that does not work, it's the piece where hosted feature layers are cloned into a recreated folder structure, where it's the last part, recreating the folder structure, that's giving me problems. More specifically, it is this piece of code: for hfs in hosted_fsvc: try: if hfs.ownerFolder: folder = next((f['title'] for f in source.users.me.folders if f['id'] == hfs.ownerFolder)) I suppose this code should loop throught all folders, for every hosted feature layer, and find the one where the layer resides. However, source.users.me.folders will only find the folders that my admin user is the owner (or creator?) of. So the question is, how would I loopt through ALL folders? Regards, Joris Frenkel

This information was just what I was looking for, thanks Brian! I was struggling with the following piece of code for cloning hosted feature layers on the page you also mentioned: if hfs.ownerFolder: folder = next((f['title'] for f in source.users.me.folders if f['id'] == hfs.ownerFolder)) Apart from being very condensed code, so quite hard to understand, the source.users.me.folders only comes up with the folders I, as an administrator, created, while here what you need are all of the folders in you GIS. Your post showed me that this is impossible, so the piece of code seems useless, at least for me. And so I skipped the part of putting the cloned items into folders. Joris Frenkel
