Kyle, You are correct. I can do a simple Append on this one-to-one relationship however I may not have explained this correctly. I will have several feature classes (i.e. Test1, Test2, Test3, Test4, Test5, etc...) and what will happen is a user will input a DWG file (parameter) with the same exact name as one of the feature classes (Test1, Test2, etc...). What I am looking for is a way to append the line data in this DWG with the appropriate feature class of the same name. I am looking for the only model parameter to be the input DWG file. Hopefully this helps. Thanks again.

Hello all, I'm trying to build a model through modelbuilder with the following workflow and haven't found a good way to go about this yet. Any input would be greatly appreciated: I have a .dwg file with a certain name, for example "Baseline.dwg". I have several feature class in a File geodatabse in a certain location with one of them being named "Baseline" as well. The "Baseline" feature class in the geodatabase is a Line feature. What I am looking to do is appending the data from the Polyline layer in the DWG into this "Baseline" feature class based on the same name. In short, based on the name of the DWG file and the feature class I would like to append this data into this feature class. Please keep in mind that I have several feature classes so I was wondering if some sort of iterate could help with this by looking through the names of the feature classes and matching the one with the same name as the DWG. Thanks in advance! Craig

I have found a workaround to incorporate the attributes into the Polygon_Extent output from the index layer from Data Driven Pages by first sorting my map in ascending alphabetical order and then running the script. The polygons are then created in order. By using the FID field, I can then join it with the index layer when I create a temporary field in that layer and add ascending values into this field. I did have one other question to see if this is feasible. My map pages have an engineering scale tied to each page (i.e 1" = 210') using the following expression in the text: SCALE: 1" = <dyn type="dataFrame" name="DataFrameName" property="scale" pageUnits="in" mapUnits="ft" pageValue="1" decimalPlaces="0"/>' Would it be possible to get this value into the Polygon_Extent output file as well? Thanks again for your assistance.

I initially used the Spatial Join geoprocessing tool using the matching option HAVE_THEIR_CENTER_IN, however as Darren eluded to, some index features do not cover the center of the map extent while several others cover multiple index features. The CONTAINS option works similar as well, however there are several index features contained in each map extent so there will be a large amount of manual QC involved by going this route.

Darren, This code you modified worked well. I did have one other question if possible. The "Polygon_Extent" layer that gets outputted does not contain any fields. Is it possible to incorporate the field that was used to create the Data Driven Pages from (i.e. the index layer) into the outputted layer? Thanks again

I have been looking for something like this for a little while now and the Python script that was posted here a few years back worked great. Thnaks for that! However, would it be possible to run something like this on multiple pages? I used Data Driven Pages to create several pages and would like a feature class or shapefile of the map extent of all of these pages. I noticed that this script will only output the first page. Thanks in advance and I appreciate the assistance!

Hi all, I recently was posed this question and have been having some difficulty finding an answer. I have a polygon feature class that has certain width to it (either 10 feet, 20 feet, or 30 feet wide). It is an extremely long polygon and was wondering if there is a process which I could run to determine which percentage of the polygon was 10 feet, what percentage is 20 feet, and what percentage is 30 feet. I was looking into if I could split the polygon into several smaller polygons each time the width of the polygon changed (i.e. intersect) but couldn't find any feasable method. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Looks like I just had a corrupt point layer. After creating a new one and added Hydro ID's into the layer, it ran smoothly. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello all, Let me start this off by saying that I am only a beginner using the ArcHydro tools so I don't have much experience with this toolset. That being said, I have been trying to run the Generate Flow Path tool from ArcToolbox. I believe that I have the necessary inputs setup correctly: Input Batch Point, Input Flow Direction Grid, Input Catchment, and Input Drainage Line. However, whenever I run the tool it gets to around 15% complete and then freezes up on me. At this point I cannot do anything but close ArcMap. I am looking to see if I am doing anything incorrectly and/or anything that I can do to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I have a ModelBuilder question that I hope to get some assistance with. I am using the KML to Layer tool export KMZ files out to feature classes which I am easily able to do. I created a quick model for the user to do so using various input parameters (i.e. where to save the layer file and geodatabase, what to name the output). My question is how would I be able to automatically delete certain fields out of these outputted feature classes right away when I am exporting this file? What I have currently done as a work around is create a separate model that the user can use to delete the fields after they run the first model that exports them. I am looking to find a way combine this into one model. As a side note, the field names will always be the same in the outputted point, line, and polygons feature classes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hello all, I have a question regarding reprojecting a feature class in ModelBuilder. I have a feature class that I wish to reproject so using the Project tool I can easily do this. I also created a parameter variable for the output coordinate system so the user can select the desired coordinate system to reproject the data to. What I am looking into is that when this tool is run this in the future, we will always be reprojecting (outputting) to a geodatabase that contains a feature dataset that includes a projection. Since this is the case, I was wondering if it is possible to set this up in ModelBuilder where the user would not need to select the desired outputted coordinate system but alternatively this tool could use the projection from the feature dataset to reproject to and there would be no user parameter to select the coordinate system. I have played around with this for a while now and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I have a question that I hope you can shed some light on for me. This is my scenario: I have a point layer feature class (in a .mdb) with a field in it named ID_NAME. This field needs an unique value in it and cannot be a duplicate to any other existing features. I'm looking to see if there is anything that I can do to accomplish this task. I attached a screenshot to better explain what I am talking about. As you can see, the "largest" value in this table is "PI.2014.314". What I am looking for is that the next point I manually add in would automatically insert "PI.2014.315" in this field without me having to type this in. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
