By design, Survey123 is configured to utilise your device's location when the app is open (background or foreground) to ensure the location is captured as quickly and accurately as possible. This is the same approach as other ESRI apps like Collector and Navigator. Extensive testing was carried out across a multitude of mobile devices, operating systems, internal location sensors and external Bluetooth GNSS receivers, to monitor battery consumption and performance. This testing included changing Survey123 settings to use the location as needed, when the survey is open and when the app is open. We found that other factors such as device usage, screen time and brightness had a much greater impact on battery consumption. Can you please provide us some details of your experiences to help us gather more information? For example: What specific devices and operating system versions are you running? Do your surveys take seconds / minutes / hours to complete? What sort of battery consumption are you seeing over what time period. How does Survey123 battery consumption compare to other mapping apps that always using your location (eg Collector, Google Maps etc.)? Are you running other apps and services while using Survey123? Are you operating in areas with wifi and/or mobile data coverage or in remote offline environments? Thanks, Brett

Hi William, You can stop Survey123 using location services by properly closing the app, you don't need to restart your phone or remove location permissions. In Android this means tapping the overview button (which brings up a list of currently open apps), then tapping X or swiping the apps you want to close away. In iOS double-tap the home button to get the multitasking view, then swipe the apps you want to close off the edge of the screen. iPhone X does this differently, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause about halfway up the screen to get the multitasking view.

Hi Erik, Just to add some background to Colin's reply, the time UI uses the locale to determine which format to use. We currently have two open enhancement requests that would enable this functionality. One to add a 24hr appearance for dateTime questions, and one to honour the device time format. Another workaround is to change to a locale code that uses 24hr clock which works well for time question types, but this obviously impacts other question types (eg calendar language for dateTime questions etc.). Here is a link to Multiple Language Support in the doc, and I've attached a simple example just using a time question type. Regards, Brett

Hi Larry, I'm unable to reproduce this issue. I've tried both Connect and Web authored surveys, completed in the field app and webform on Windows (chrome, IE and Edge), Android (Chrome) and iOS (Chrome and Safari) devices. Note that the webform signature questions require you to tap the "Press to sign" or "Draw/Sign" button on mobile devices to begin sketching. Perhaps you could provide your XLSX and more details on your specific environment (device, OS, Connect version etc) and I can investigate further. Regards, Brett

Hello Jonas, It's possible to set up an inbox filter so that, for example, only the 'NOTOK' surveys are loaded from the server when the user refreshes the inbox. This can be done in the Settings→Inbox tab of Survey123 Connect. An example query expression would be choice='notok'. It's also possible to configure how your survey records are presented (based on fields or combinations of fields etc.) in the inbox so that sorting alphabetically would help you find the 'NOTOK' surveys. This is configured through the 'instance_name' column in the Settings tab on the XLS Form. Here you need to reference any field names according to XLSForm spec, eg ${choice}. Hope this helps, Brett

Hi Dustin, Are you just wanting to assign the location of your parent 'RMX2019' feature layer record to the records within your related tables? We have an issue logged to fix this (it's currently broken), but the approach is to bring the XY coordinates of a geopoint question (parent feature layer) to all records within a repeat (related table) using the Pulldata function eg: Brett

Hi Dion, No, this is not a limitation of feature services. I am able to print reports that show attachments using the sample and modified templates from a survey built from an existing feature service. If you'd like to share your survey and modified template I can help trouble shoot. Brett

Hi Patrick, In order to have two geopoint questions in a single survey you'll need to have one of the geopoints within a repeat. This stores the secondary points in a related feature layer. Unfortunately, even if you are happy with this design, the survey default basemap (set in the Settings → Map tab in Survey123 Connect), is a global setting stored in the .info file that applies to all geopoint questions in your survey. Your own tile package with be handled in the same way so won't give the desired result. You have probably already noticed that different basemaps can be selected when you're collecting a point, but currently this selection is not persisted in your survey (reverts to default). Brett

Hi Dustin, Repeated features are stored in a related feature layer. You can view the name of your related feature layer using the 'Schema Preview' tab in Survey123 Connect: Now just add this related feature layer to a map in ArcGIS Online / Pro / Desktop and edit the symbology. Hope this helps, Brett

Hi Allison, Are you referring to the 'quickcompact' appearance type that is part of the XLSFrom spec? If so, it is not supported in Survey123. Can you please explain what you mean by a 'punch list', I'm not really sure what you're trying to figure out. Brett
