Hello All, I am working on a project where we have a number of volunteers that are collecting locations/inventories of a specific phenomenon using Survey123. There is a question in one of the forms used from Survey123 (there are three forms total) that asks the user to specify if an action needs to take place at the location that is being inventoried. This is a simple Yes or No question with an additional specific actions needed question that is conditioned on the user answering Yes. Currently, I have created a Hosted View Feature Layer joining the relevant form (table) and feature layer (point) in MapViewer Classic. I bring this layer into Map Viewer and filter the features based on the action needed question (displaying the point if the answer to the action needed question is Yes). The map created in Map Viewer is used in Field Maps so that people can go to the location, click on the point once they arrive, and follow the link via the pop-up in Field Maps to the associated Survey123 survey. In Survey123 I have a field called parentglobalid that is populated from the point's GUID via the pop-up in Field Maps. The issue that I am running into is trying to figure out a way that users (they are all volunteers and do not have editing capabilities for the hosted view feature layer) can clear the feature layer via Field Maps once they take the needed actions at the specific locations. I have talked with others who have field editors and they can switch the question on previously collected data, unfortunately the volunteers are not field editors. My initial thoughts would be to create some way to only display the most recent record for a site since they will be working off the original GUID, though I am not sure if this is possible? Is there a way to include a form in Field Maps that would make this easier? Or, if there are any other suggestions I am open to them. Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays/New Years to everyone.

Hello All. I am currently working on a project that involves features (points) that have been collected via two different Survey123 surveys at two different points in time. In looking at the data I was given, and assuming the general +/- 4m tolerance or accuracy that both of the Survey123 surveys seem to have when I open them in the field and in visiting some of the sites in the field, I am assuming that sites that are within 4m or less than one another are actually the same site. I was wondering if there is a way to easily merge two points that are within a buffer distance. In the image below, there is a theoretical buffer distance of 4m from site number 1 that includes site number 2. My goal would be to include the records or form from site 2 for site 1, with site 2 inheriting site 1's GlobalID so that the records are consistent with all the data that has been collected. Both of these surveys are still active so I would also like to explore ways to make this process more automatic, or easy enough to do on a consistent basis. I am not sure if ArcGIS Online or ArcPro would be the better outlet for this, but am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks, and have a great day.

Hello @TristenDenton4 I am able to create hosted feature layer view with one of the tables, I am trying to find a solution that will allow me to create a hosted feature layer view with two tables and one feature layer. Thanks for the link though and let me know if you find a solution, if you are facing the same issue that I am.

Hello I have a feature layer (point) and two related forms (tables) that were created via Survey123. I am using Map Viewer Classic and the Join Features analysis tool to try and join the two tables with the feature layer. I would like to keep the join dynamic because the surveys are currently in operation and therefore want to create a hosted feature layer view. This hosted feature layer view will be used in FieldMaps and will be updated within FieldMaps every week. I can easily create a hosted feature layer view by joining the feature layer with one of the tables, but I cannot use this new hosted feature layer view to join the additional table to. I have tried to first join both of the forms and then join this with the feature layer, but again if the combined table is a hosted feature layer view, I cannot create a hosted feature layer view from this join. Is there a way, within ArcGIS Online, to join two forms to one feature layer with the result being a hosted feature layer view? Or, is there method that I should be looking into. Thanks for any and all help.

Hi @DougBrowning Thank you for the gifs, they helped explain a lot. I wanted to provide a clarification of what our workflow looks like: Our "study areas" are polygons (parks and open spaces) in FieldMaps and we are asking volunteers and agency employees to use FieldMaps to select the area they are at. The polygon pop-up contains links to the Survey123. Currently, I am passing the parks or open space name to Survey123 from the Field Maps pop-up. However, I recently realized that this is not smart since this name would not be unique to each point, though I still want to know what polygon the data was collected within so I am going to keep that in. We created a geo point question within the first repeat because some of these areas are quite large and we wanted to know specific locations on where the data was collected in case that someone would have to return to complete what we are calling an "action". If an action is needed, I am going to create a points feature layer to include in Field Maps (containing a link to the same survey) so that the appropriate people can know where to navigate to and so that they have the ability to record the action taken. I would like to pass the GlobalID from the point to the forms so that they will be related, which I have done in previous Field Map/Survey123 projects. Where I am getting tripped up is how to incorporate a geo point question in the survey that would be related to the three repeats that are hosted on the survey form and would only be necessary if the user is creating a new observation and not interacting with a point that already exists in FieldMaps. I am thinking how and where to place the geo point question because if they are already working off a point within Field Maps, there is no reason for them to create a new point. Should I create a geo point repeat at the top of the form that is only displayed if no GlobalID is captured from Field Maps (i.e., the user clicks on the polygon and not a point)? Or maybe a conditional question in this initial repeat that asks the user if they are collecting a new point? Maybe that clears things up?

Hi @DougBrowning Thanks for the response. If I am only needing to link the point feature class, collected in the first repeat, to the other three repeats contained within the same survey do I need to download and bring everything into ArcPro and re-upload into ArcGIS Online? Doesn't publishing the survey from Survey123 Connect automatically create the relationships between the point and the forms? My confusion is how the geo point question can or is related to the forms. Maybe I should take it out of the pos_information repeat and place it in its own repeat and have it relate to the forms? As for FieldMaps, I am hoping to pass both the polygon name and and the GlobalID to Survey123 and have those fields populated automatically. It would be the GlobalID from the point feature created in the process outlined above. Now that I think about it, it seems like the geo point question should not always be available because if people click on the point within Field Maps, that will capture their location. Thanks, and please let me know if this makes sense. Garrett

Hello All, I am working on a project that includes one survey with four repeats, the .xlsx form is included. There are a number of questions that I have about how to use this data once it has been collected. These might be simplistic questions, but I feel like I am overlooking something before this survey goes live and I wanted to post something to the community before it is available for widespread use. Users will access these surveys via FieldMaps and pop-ups on the appropriate feature layer that will link to the correct survey. In this example, the FieldMaps map consists of polygons and when the user clicks on the polygon (park or open space) a pop-up includes a link to the Parks or Open Space survey. The survey has a field, location, that inherits the name of the correct park or open space area, and then places that location in each of the repeats. The first repeat, pos_information, includes a geo point question because the users want to know exactly where, within the polygon, that the survey was taken. I am trying to figure out how the forms are related to that particular point. When I open the test data on survey123.arcgis.com I can see that the point feature layer and the other repeats are linked to one another. However, when I open the data in ArcGIS Online I am not sure how to relate the table(s) to the point(s). I would like to create a hosted view of the points with the forms via MapViewer Classic. Upon further reflection I do not think that I designed this properly because the park or open space name would not be unique if multiple points are collected within the same park or open space polygon. So, I would like to include the points collected via the geo point question on the FieldMaps map so that records for the same points can be collected over time. I can create specific pop-ups for these feature layers. However, for the original data, should I create a field in each of the repeats that uses the GlobalID created via the original point feature layer and if so, how would I do this? Please let me know if this makes sense and if you need any further clarification to provide any guidance. Thanks

Hello I have a number of hosted feature layers, some of them views, that are created from a single feature layer (campsites) and related tables (condition, agency action, volunteer action) all of which are created and/or updated using Survey123 and Field Maps. I have been looking for a solution to a problem that I am having with only showing the most recent record in each of the three tables for the hosted/view feature layers I am using when I create online maps for a dashboard and offline maps for Field Maps. For some of the features (points) there may be two to three records from one of the tables (i.e., conditions) and I am only interested in displaying the most recent records. I have tried Arcade, filters in ArcGIS Online, etc... and cannot figure anything out that would work. When I read about using a One to One join in Mapviewer Classic, I see that I can choose one record from the tables I am joining to the feature layer by defining which record is kept. I have a field in all of the tables called Survey Date that is the date that the survey was completed and it looks like I can select the option for only keeping the newest record within the table. If I were to create a hosted/view feature layer by using a one to one join keeping only the newest record by the Survey Date field, would this hosted/view feature layer automatically update each time a record was collected in the field? We have a group of field workers that are consistently adding new feature layers and/or updating previous tables related to the feature layers. If I create a hosted/view feature layer with the campsites feature layer and conditions table choosing the one to one join keeping only the most recent record would this continuously update. For example, if a condition record was filled out on May 1, 2023 then again on May 5, 2023 would my hosted/view feature layer only display the conditions table from May 5, 2023? Please let me know if this makes sense and/or if further clarification is needed.

Hello I have three Feature layers (hosted) that are created by joining three different tables to one feature layer in MapViewer. The original feature layer and tables are created via Survey123 and are consistently being updated. However, when I look at the hosted feature layers on the various online maps and dashboards that I have created with them on it they are not updating. Instead, the date of the most recent record is on the day that I joined the feature layer and table to create the hosted feature layer. When I previously performed joins and created hosted feature layers in MapViewer Classic the hosted feature layers would consistently update if new data and/or records were collected via Survey123. Is this not the case with the new MapViewer analysis tools? Do I need to recreate these in MapViewer Classic in order for them to update? Thanks

Hello I went ahead and saved two Feature Layers (hosted, view) from the original Feature Layer and it is now working great. I also noticed, before I did this, that there was a ghost table attached to my original Feature Layer. I found this out by looking at the table tab on ArcGIS Online. It was easy to delete this as well so that it would not cause any additional issues. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello All. I am having an issue with feature layers not showing up when I create an offline map area. Here is the map that I am using, including the layers: When I go into my Offline Map areas, after updating them, I do not see the Agency Actions Needed or the Volunteer Actions Needed layers: The same goes for when I open Field Maps on my phone. If I look at the online map, all the layers are there: However, when I look at the offline map, there is only the Volunteer Actions needed layer. The only thing that I thought of was that both the Volunteer and Agency Actions Needed layers are created via the Campsite Condition layer using filters on two of the questions from the Campsite Condition table. In thinking that you are not able to create multiple layers from the same layer, I did a Save As from the ArcGIS Online Map and created separate feature layers for both. I then re-added those newly created layers to the map and re-saved the online map and the offline areas in Field Maps, only to get the same results. I am not sure what to try next, other than creating individual Field Maps for each of the layers, but that does not seem to be an efficient solution since people will have to download multiple Field Maps offline areas that are not all housed in the same location. Thanks

Thanks. I use shorter domain values because I bring this data into R for some statistical analysis, and it is much easier to evaluate if the column values are simple. Though the multiple answer questions are awful to work with anyways. I was unaware that ArcGIS Online would pull the coded domains and not the answer values. When I open the table in ArcGIS Pro the columns are filled with the actual answers. It seems like there is not an elegant solution to this.
