Thanks for the update @OwenGeo , fingers crossed this gets enough attention then! I agree with @PeterKnoop also, that some sort of outline would work great for this (similar to the classic Cascade template where we had the organizer sidebar). Thanks!

I've been at this a while so I've tried many things. The first thing to try was just use the web map and feature from the Classic Map Tour and I selected the attributes that correspond to the name and description. This worked to put the values in the story map, but the html tags were showing and not acting. I copied the feature to another name and took out the html tags thinking maybe the new story maps would not need them. No stacking. So I made another feature and broke the name feature into several attributes hoping to be able to put in more than one attribute. Nope. Then I thought a concatenation of the attributes might work with a line return as done in Arcade. I went into ArcPro and created a label in Arcade that stacks because of the textformat.newline constant. It worked well in ArcPro, I copied it and tried to paste into a text field of the feature, but the sequence was too long. So even with the html tags as you used. I see what is below. As you can see all the data is there, but seems to only use word wrap. Owen, it's time for me to leave, but I will be in tomorrow and checking for your suggestions. I will also check out the Abby's article and see what I might find there. I'm fine using Arcade I just am not necessarily real good at it :). I used AML ok, back in the day, LOL. I really appreciate your answer and Help!

@EDevereaux - I'm very sorry you're having this issue. You can submit a request for Esri Technical Support via this website: https://support.esri.com/ Someone there will be able to help you recover your lost story.

This is an old thread but was there an update completed? This agency created sub categories that I am trying to replicate but cannot find the option to create subcategories. Any suggestions? @EmelieAxelsson @OwenGeo @Anneka_France @jennywilliams https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/9f95490e03de471da538098bad6e073d?item=6

The lines that shape our cities nicely illustrates the aspect of self-hosting as it relates to hosting custom CSS and JavaScript along side the StoryMap in which you are embedding it. In other words, hosting both the story and embedded custom code on the same domain. In this specific case, since it is an Esri authored StoryMap, they appear to have access to the storymaps web server to host their embedded custom code (i.e., https://storymaps.esri.com/stories/2020/redlining-timeline/timeline-horizontal.js) As far as I know, the rest of us don't have access to similarly post custom code to the storymaps web server. So self-hosting would be an avenue to enable us to host our storymap and our embedded custom code on the same domain.

@JenMcRuer that is getting quite a bit outside the scope of a StoryMap Question 🙂 It is possible to edit a published survey, Update a survey. If you have questions about the process, I would recommend asking them in Survey123 Questions.

Thanks, Kat and Owen! Yes, Instant Apps is where I will need to go as StoryMaps do not provide the level of user interaction I require. It does look like the Interactive Legend Instant App will provide most of the query options I need, though it will need careful crafting to ensure buy-in from the GIS-adverse. Thank you for pointing me to this resource. Andrew

I'm adding to the voices here calling for an option that would enable different colored pins within the same tour. I'm using a tour format, and would like three colors for the different categories of "stops" on the tour: https://arcg.is/0zLWfX0. Hoping this update can be made!
