Hi, when I use the 'long URL' the embedded experience presents the attributes for the selected feature, however it doesn't zoom to the selected feature.. but instead the embed presents the default map extent. Previously I'd thought that the 'zoom to selected feature' had been working.. but its not working now. The embed code I'm using is as follows: <iframe width="1080" height="720" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen src="https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/d29087da77714ddfb6642e3df642ddc9?org=dfi-ni#data_s=geometry%3A27a4dd2f2d4f475284dcdc5bb2aa5e26-CapitalScheme_3651%3A%7B%22spatialReference%22%3A%7B%22latestWkid%22%3A3857%2C%22wkid%22%3A102100%7D%2C%22rings%22%3A%5B%5B%5B-694542.9595277839%2C7310732.321756193%5D%2C%5B-693941.017930039%2C7310732.321756193%5D%2C%5B-693941.017930039%2C7310273.699586482%5D%2C%5B-694542.9595277839%2C7310273.699586482%5D%2C%5B-694542.9595277839%2C7310732.321756193%5D%5D%5D%7D"></iframe> which is being carried across to the properties of the Embed in my StoryMap. Not sure what all the parameters mean that are now included in the URL.. grateful for any assistance.

I still think this is a good idea and have some specific, tangible use cases (which I would be happy to describe, if/when it would be helpful). Fingers crosses that this comes to pass at some point! Cheers, Shane

@OwenGeoHey Owen, thanks, I understand the collection concept and appreciate your response highlighting the capability. For our use case, what we'd prefer is to have a downloadable app on the phone in addition to a web link so users have choice of launching platform. I've been poking around on this and am investigating a no-code app maker: https://www.andromo.com/ which is robust and would allow us to launch web links from a native app to our StoryMaps. A little more background on the why - we are transitioning from another tour app that includes native apps to StoryMaps, and the downloads we have with those native systems are very high - we are transitioning about 36 stories from the other platform. We want to have the flexibility of the web app, but also keep the concept of a downloadable tour app.

FYI, the "tour progress lines" feature mentioned above was added to ArcGIS StoryMaps in Nov 2022. What’s new in ArcGIS StoryMaps (November 2022) (esri.com)

Awww ok. That was my sneaking suspicion. Thanks for confirming so I won't spend more time on it. I will probably add a button at the bottom then. They really love the story map format, and I know I could embed it into an experience builder but that seems like a lot of work for one navbar link. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!!

This is absolutely needed and necessary. Especially if I already have this formatted in an ArcGIS Pro project (like I do currently), it needs to carry over to ArcGIS Online!

@TimothyHoeflich - Wow, great story! I reviewed it and I really don't see anything that required the use of HTML, so I'm still a little confused why you chose to author it that way.Part of the appeal of both the classic Esri Story Maps templates and the new ArcGIS StoryMaps is that you can create engaging web content with an interactive, easy-to-use builder rather than needing to use code. Either way, it's an impressive piece of work!! Regardless of how the story was originally created, I see no reason why you could not recreate it in ArcGIS StoryMaps. You could A) manually bring over all the content, which would involve copying/pasting chunks of regular text (not HTML) and re-uploading the images, or you could B) use the conversion helper tool mentioned above. I would use this as an opportunity to think about how you organize the story as a whole. One way to do it would be to create a single long story and use the story navigation feature to add chapter links across the top, like in this story: Coastal Flooding (arcgis.com) But I also might recommend thinking about whether it would be better to divide the story into a 3-4 major parts. Each of those parts could be individual stories (they could have chapter links too) and you could group the stories in a collection. Here's an example of this technique: The Deep (arcgis.com) Here's more info about using a collection: Start your first ArcGIS StoryMaps collection (esri.com)

Hi @IslamOsama We ended up creating a few web maps with different basemaps and setting them to Public. They have no layers, just basemaps in them. Then we switched the map tour map to reference that web map for the base map, this seemed to work for us as a workaround. Hope that helps, good luck!

These stories specifically mention CityEngine: Evaluating Development Proposals with 3D GIS (arcgis.com) Determining the Skyline Impacts of a Proposed Development (arcgis.com) 3D Models (arcgis.com) Not sure if these stories with 3D content are from CityEngine or not. They may be from ArcGIS Pro as multipatch features. At the very base of things (arcgis.com) Building for tomorrow (arcgis.com)

I'm sorry, we don't know. I would think the work the Dashboard team did would allow file downloads in other embedded scenarios outside of StoryMaps. It would be good to check with those teams if you are seeing an issue with that combination of apps.

@OwenGeo sorry for the repetition but I have a similar question. Can you confirm that "the number of views that ArcGIS records on a StoryMap's item page is the number of times the ArcGIS item page has been viewed"? I found the following paragraph (here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/manage-data/monitor-item-usage.htm) and I am now a bit confused about how the views for StoryMaps are counted: "For maps, scenes, ArcGIS Server layers, and web apps, the view count is increased by one when you open the item page or open the item in Map Viewer or Scene Viewer. For example, if you open the item page for a map image layer and click Open in Map Viewer, the count increases by two. For other items—such as mobile apps and KML—the view count is increased by one when you open the item; the count does not increase when you open the item page." Thank you for your time.

@SaraJL - No worries, and sorry about the back and forth. I understand it is not always clear where to post things, but the main things is that it's good you are getting the conversation started somewhere! Once we dig into an issue, it sometimes becomes clear that a different audience is needed to hear and implement the suggestion, and I think that's the case here. This is essentially an idea to improve the core ArcGIS sign in experience that ArcGIS Online and other apps use to help new users understand they are part of an org and prevent signing in or creating new accounts. ----- One other note is that you should be sure to tell people to check the "Remember this URL" box when signing in. This is how you can store the context of your organization on your computer. (This isn't a complete solution since it doesn't apply across different computers and still falls under user education, but it is something you can try to do now if you're not already.) So if a user who has done this navigates directly to another ArcGIS app, like StoryMaps, when they sign in they'll be prompted to click their org name (in my case the org name is "Story") to get their org-specific login options. After clicking that button, you'll see only the sign-in options your org has enabled. You can see below in my org we have a SAML/Okta login option and no social logins available.
