DORIS, I believe this is due to a bug we are aware of that is present in the current beta version of Crowdsource. The bug is related to how the feature service is created. We are looking into this and should have a fix for it in the next release in September. Owen

Hi Richard, Most story map apps already have autoplay. You can read more about which ones and how to use it in this blog: What’s New in Story Maps (March 2016) | ArcGIS Blog Also, I'm curious to know what specific aspects of story map navigation you don't find intuitive. Would you be able to please provide a bit of detail so we can work to make improvements in the future? Owen

Hi Robert, Thanks for taking the time to submit feedback. Crowdsource will most likely read photo geotags at the next release in September. Owen

Hi John, If you have access to ArcGIS Desktop (or have a colleague that does) you can bring your historical map image into ArcMap, georeference it, publish it as a tiled service to ArcGIS Online, add the service to a web map, and use that web map in your Cascade story. Here are some examples of interactive historical maps used in story maps: http://arcg.is/1poYIQb http://arcg.is/1Hl6iTV Otherwise you could use an image zoom library (like this one, but there are lots out there you could evaluate) to host a simple web page that lets your audience zoom in and out on the image and add web page to your story. You'd need to be somewhat comfortable working with JavaScript and HTML to do this. Owen

Pierre, Also, image storage services that provide embed code that doesn't require a script should work in Cascade as well; so Giphy works, but Imgur does not (it requires JavaScript). Some services provide additional HTML tags in their embed code. Currently you have to manually remove any additional tags from the embed code to leave just the <iframe>. We'll look to improve that experience in a future release, but for now here's an example of what to do: For example, this is the embed code Giphy provides: <iframe src="//giphy.com/embed/9WqOLBW3KIBOM" width="480" height="370" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://giphy.com/gifs/9WqOLBW3KIBOM">via GIPHY</a></p> To get this to work in Cascade you'd just insert this: <iframe src="//giphy.com/embed/9WqOLBW3KIBOM" width="480" height="370" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe> Owen

Hi Katy, Thanks for sending the link. Sorry, you've found a bug that we will fix in the next release. It has to do with the fact that you have immersive panel with an image as the first piece of content (no text). The good news is you should be able to recover your story. It's not difficult, but just be careful as the solution involves editing the JSON of your story, which you can do using the ArcGIS Online Assistant tool. Here's how to do it: Launch the ArcGIS Online Assistant and log in with your ArcGIS account Find your story map in the item listing on the left side At the top choose I want to > View an item's JSON Scroll down a bit on the right side and in the Data section, click the pencil to activate edit mode. Use the browser's search to find "project work" -- this is some caption text in your story in the panel where the problem is occurring. Insert the text shown in the second screenshot as shown below. Scroll back up to the beginning of the Data section and save your changes Try to load your story in builder mode. The result should look like this -- notice the comma after the last bracket. You can replace "Some text" with whatever you want. Once you fix your story you should be able to edit everything back in the builder; just avoid creating immersive panels that don't start with text for now. This issue will be fixed in the September release. Sorry for the bizarre fix, but it should let you recover your story. Let me know if you have any questions. Owen

Hi Caroline, There isn't a dedicated area for a caption for a main stage image, but usually authors put the image caption and/or credit in the side panel. Making the caption text smaller and lighter is a good technique. See the first section of this story as an example. Owen

Hi Pierre, You can upload images, including animated gifs, right into the Cascade media picker. Just drag it onto the blue drop zone on the ArcGIS tab and it will be uploaded to your ArcGIS account and inserted into your story. If your gif is set to loop it will loop. Owen

Hi Sarah, You can already use images stored in Google Photos in your story maps. Check out this blog: What story map authors need to know about the transition from Picasa to Google Photos | ArcGIS Blog Owen

Hi Katy, Thanks for submitting feedback on Cascade. We have not added a legend feature yet but have it on our list to add in a future release. When creating story maps, we do recommend trying to use very simple maps that don't require a legend or that can be easily explained in the story narrative; however, we of course realize that is not always possible. For now, the best option is to either take a screenshot of the legend in the map viewer or create your own graphic and add that as an image to your story. This can be done as an in-line image in a sequential section or in the immersive panel if the map is in an immersive section. Owen

Hi Vojtěch, I was able to create a Cascade story (here) using that service, so I believe you are correct in that you are encountering an issue with HTTP/HTTPS. Standard web security dictates that if a web page or app is accessed over HTTPS, then all other content on that page must also be accessed over HTTPS. This is often referred to as "mixed content" and you can read more about it here. It looks like the GIS server where that imagery service is hosted is not configured with a security certificate, so it does not support HTTPS. I'm not sure if that is your server or if it is administered by another organization, but one way to solve your issue is to configure the GIS server for HTTPS (this is a best practice anyway). Another thing you can try is to access your story map over HTTP -- you can try just changing the URL in your browser's address bar to http://[your app URL]. This will only work if your ArcGIS Online organization is not configured to require HTTPS in the organization security settings. See the troubleshooting tips in this blog for more information. Hi Mary, You can do that, but you'd need to download the code, make a small customization to it, and host your copy of the app on your own web server. The customization is described here: GitHub - Esri/map-series-storytelling-template-js: The Story Map Series lets you present a series of maps via tabs, numb… Owen

Hi Shruthi, Sorry, that error indicates that the Facebook website doesn't allow embedding. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about that in builder. If you are a registered Facebook developer you can use their developer tools, for example embedded posts or the page plugin, to embed specific pieces of Facebook content in your story. Hi Erica, Sure, you can do that. I would recommend that you have a large amount of space available to provide a good experience. If you don't then it may be best to have a screenshot in your page that has a link that opens the full-sized story in a new browser tab. Also keep in mind if you do embed the live story that your main web page should be responsively designed because simply shrinking a page with an embedded story map will not provide a great experience as-is when viewed on a mobile device. Here's an example of an embedded Cascade on the Bureau of Land Management's tubmlr feed: My Public Lands Summer Roadtrip 2016 Owen
