Hi Ann -- Unfortunately that is a current limitation of Map Journal's integration with Flickr. You will have to create another album and add the second half of your photos to that album if you want to use them in a Map Journal. I realize this is not ideal, but it doesn't duplicate the photos in Flickr. We will look at increasing that limit in a future release.

I believe the issue with your story is that each of your web maps uses a vector basemap. There is currently an issue on iOS devices if there are too many vector tile layers. We are looking into how to address this in the future, but we have a few technical challenges to overcome to get there. Here are two things to try to workaround this: First, if you can do without the overview map the simplest thing would be to try removing it from each section. Having that open is currently doubling the number of vector tile layers in your story. If removing the overview maps doesn't fix things, this should (and you may want to do this anyway, for reasons mentioned below): try using a single web map for all the sections of your story map (that way the vector basemap will only load once). To do this: Add all your layers to the same web map and turn them all off Add the web map you created in step one to the main stage of each section of your story In each section use the "Custom Configuration" option for Content and Location to set the visible layers and map extent for that section. You can see this article for more information. If you do this second workaround, you may be able to keep the overview maps. Also, the main stage won't need to reload each time you switch tabs, you'll just see the new layers pop-in and the map pan/zoom to the correct extent, which will be a much nicer experience for your readers. Let me know how these work out for you.

Hi James -- Sorry you are running into an issue with your story. I just tested several Map Series stories in our gallery and they seem to behave fine on an iPad running 10.3.3. Are you able to share a link to your app so we can take a look? What types of content do you have in your tabs? If you're not able to make your story public then I'll have to ask you to please work with Esri Support to troubleshoot this.

Hi Trevor -- Thanks for sharing your images. Your assessment is correct; those images are not large enough to use as background images in a Cascade. If you inspect them you can see the largest one is only 640 pixels wide (and one is just 240 pixels wide). To use an image as a cover or immersive background image it should be about 2000 pixels wide. You may be able to use those images in your story if you add them in-line to a narrative section and set the size to SMALL. What model iPhone are you using to take photos? If you are using an iPhone 3G or later the photos should be at least 2000 pixels wide. Sometimes emailing photos will reduce their quality. If so, be sure to send the full quality images when you transfer them to the computer with which you are making your story map. More information about recommended image sizes for all story map apps can be found in our FAQ. For example, here's information about image sizes/treatments in Cascade.

Lars -- I'm not aware of any plans to add web-accessible office document storage to ArcGIS. While I wouldn't call it an elegant solution, if you absolutely needed to show a live table in an internally shared story you could publish your spreadsheet as a hosted service and embed the "Data" tab of its item page in your story map. As long as you shared this service the same as the story map in which it appears others with whom you've shared the story (via a group or the org) would see it when they are logged in. Here's an example of how that might look in a Cascade story... ...and how you'd link to the table item's Data page when adding Media in Cascade Builder.

Hi Tobias -- Per the notes on that feature's checkbox, the Locate button will only work if the story is being accessed over https (in your case both your customized story and the parent page must be https). This is a web security policy enforced by browsers (see here for more info). Is that the issue?

Lars -- If the table needs to be a live view of data it would need to be hosted on the web somewhere as a viewable table, so yes Google Sheets or Office 365 would work for that. But, as you pointed out, for the table to be displayed inside a story map it would need to be shared publicly. Story Maps don't support private embedded content because browsers block showing a login screen inside another page (that is, inside a story map) since it violates web security practices. You could download the code for a story map app and customize it to provide a login experience for the site you want to use to host the private spreadsheets and host your customized version of the app on your own web server. The reader would be prompted to login before the story map loads and would pass the credentials to the site of the embedded content.

Adrian -- Story Map apps require connecting to ArcGIS Online or an ArcGIS Enterprise portal to obtain the story configuration. It is technically possible to customize one of the apps to do what you say, but yes it would take a significant amount of work.

Hi Trevor -- Sorry you are having a problem with getting your images into a story map. Can you please let us know which story map app you are using? They are listed here. Also, could you share a few of the photos here so we can test them and perhaps make your app public and share a link here so we can see what's happening? If that's not possible, could you please take a few screenshots and post them here so we can see what you are seeing?

Hi John -- Unfortunately, there's currently no way to package a story map for use offline. We are thinking about this, but it's currently a research project for us as a long term goal. There are a lot of technical challenges and/or limitations with packaging a story map for offline use since stories can contain so many different types of embedded content from the web, much of which can't be downloaded/saved. For now, if you have access to ArcGIS Enterprise software, you could load that on a laptop and build your story map on the laptop and bring that laptop to your kiosk location.

Jason -- OK, it looks like there is currently a max width of 1920px only on GIF images. Based on how people are using images it looks like we no longer need that limitation, so we'll look to remove it at the next release. For now, if you resize your image to that width it will work.

Nope, it's a 10 MB limit per file. Can you share the file here so I can test it? Do you have any special characters in the file name? We fixed some issues with that in the June release, but maybe there's something else there.

Hi Smitty -- Me again! 🙂 While you can't change the color by editing the JSON, you can still do it without hosting the app yourself. Map Journal has an HTML editor that you can use to add a <style> to override the CSS you found in the dev tools. See this article for details. Sorry for not remembering that before originally responding.
