Should I be able to publish a web map from Pro where the basemap (one of the ones at https://www.arcgis.com/home/group.html?id=4c790318395940c18a16e8acd721de25#!) has a coordinate system of WGS84 but the map frame has an equal earth projection? I'm currently getting error 00230 because of the discrepancy. Since the projection engine has been part of the JS API since 2018, I expected the people looking at the web map to use client-side (or the server-side geometry engine as a last resort) transformations the same way Pro projects things on the fly.

What is the best way to recreate the equivalent of the data DVDs that used to be bundled with ArcGIS? Do I need to manually download each item from the ArcGIS Data and Maps group on AGOL? In the Esri UC 2021 Jack Dangermond FAQ, he wrote that "With ArcGIS Enterprise, you have access to data to help jumpstart and enhance your GIS. ... Living Atlas ... Boundary Layers." Historically, the Esri Data and Maps (now called ArcGIS Data and Maps) came with a PDF document that described how each bit of data could be used. However, the documentation for the Boundary Layers download from My Esri says: These layers are licensed for internal use in ArcGIS Enterprise, including Portal for ArcGIS, Insights for ArcGIS, and other connected ArcGIS apps. Users are not permitted to use outside the ArcGIS Enterprise family of products or to export data for disconnected use in ArcGIS or other applications. Users are not permitted to share the layer (publicly or privately) for external use by members of other organizations or the public, without separate written permission from Esri. Yet at the same time, there is an Esri Data and Maps group on AGOL that says "Consult the Redistribution Rights document to determine the redistribution rights for each data layer. Review this information carefully before redistributing any of this data" and the document looks quite familiar. Finally, to maximize confusion, Portal shows a group called "Living Atlas" out of the box and although the item URL looks fine (https://example.example.net/fw_arcgisportal/home/item.html?id=d6f7ee6129e241cc9b6f75978e47128b) but the service's URLs look like "https://services.arcgis.com/P3ePLMYs2RVChkJx/arcgis/rest/services/USA_ZIP_Code_Areas_anaylsis/FeatureServer/0" and the terms of use say "This work is licensed under the Esri Master License Agreement." There's no hint of redistribution rights.

I tried running Calculate Field with a code block that defined a function: def test(incdt, t):
result = None
if t != "":
result = incdt.date() + datetime.timedelta(seconds=float(t))
return result I ran the GP tool with the following expression: test(!Time_Sent_To_Queue!, !F1st_Unit_Assigned!) But, Pro says that its own GP tool isn't passing both fields. The GP tool returns: TypeError: test() missing 1 required positional argument: 't' I'm running Pro 2.8.0 on Windows 10. What would make Pro fail to pass both fields to the function? The 2 source fields are of type Date and Text respectively. The destination field is a Date field. One of the major changes with the 4.* JS API has been the use of the asynchronous loading as much as possible (https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/programming-patterns/#async-data and https://community.esri.com/t5/developers-blog/the-quot-loadable-quot-power-of-the-arcgis-runtime-sdk/ba-p/891887). For example, in https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/sample-code/sandbox/index.html?sample=views-composite-views, the code looks like this: var layer = new FeatureLayer(); var map = new Map(layer); var mainView = new MapView(map); //pulled out the new Legend to make it clearer var l = new Legend({ view: mainView }); mainView.ui.add(l),"bottom-right"); Would it be better for the sample to wait for each prerequisite to finish loading like this? var layer = new FeatureLayer("URL pointing to a slow AGS server"); //Wait for the slow server to respond... await layer.load(); var map = new Map(layer); var mainView = new MapView(map); //Wait for the MapView to finish getting what it wants from the slow layer(s) for (const lv in mainView.allLayerViews) { await mainView.whenLayerView(lv); } //Now that the LayerView and MapView know exactly how to show everything (e.g. renderer symbols and the corresponding DOM nodes) we can add the layers to the legend with the right symbology and labels. var l = new Legend({ view: mainView }); mainView.ui.add(l),"bottom-right"); Something doesn't feel quite right because in the ESRI Dev Summit 2021 session about customizing widgets (ArcGIS API for Javascript: Customizing Widgets at 2 PM), I don't recall the presenter having to put "await" all over his code before being able to mess with the widget's HTML. Although I asked this question during the ESRI Dev Summit 2021 "ArcGIS API for Javascript: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask" session, I know it's over so if no one sees this, I'll re-post it elsewhere in a few days.

I know that many old ArcGIS Idea posts were archived but I can't figure out why this URL doesn't work any more: https://geonet.esri.com/thread/162643 It should go to a discussion thread in the Esri Technical Support community. The Internet Archive shows what the page used to look like. Now, I see: Sorry, the page you are trying to access has either been archived or you are unable to access with the account you are logged in with. I have 4 ArcGIS Server virtual machines (1 primary, 3 standby). All 4 are configured to use shared instances by default with Server Manager. However, today, when I checked, 2 of the standby machines said that the default instance type is "Dedicated". Has anyone else observed this setting changing on its own? The only background task that touches AGS is a nightly WebGIS DR restore from the primary machine to the 3 standby ones. System Details: Windows Server 2019 ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 (Portal/Server/Data Store with federation between Server and Portal) Backup: Created at about 3 AM Restore: Performed at about 12 AM

In the past month, the Portal URL in ArcGIS Web Adaptor was modified while a WebGIS DR restore was running and no one else was using the ArcGIS Enterprise server. This doesn't happen every time a restore runs. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Environment: 1 primary ArcGIS Enterprise server (Portal/Server/Data Store) called "fwwtesri01" connected to a web server (ArcGIS Web Adaptor for IIS) called "fwwtdevweb1". Multiple backup sets of identically-configured servers (for instance, "StoutESRI2" runs Portal and talks to the world through "StoutESRI2-Web"). All running: Windows Server 2019 10.7.1 version of ArcGIS software WebGIS DR process: Backup: At 3 AM, take a full backup of the primary server Restore: At 12 AM (before the backup), restore the most recent backup from the primary server I've attached a screenshot of one of the backup servers and the corresponding WebGIS DR log file. I plan to enable the most verbose logging possible to see if any additional information is available.

In ArcGIS Server 10.7.1, if you compare the object ("if result > 0") then sometimes, the boolean condition will return True and sometimes it returns False. Hope this helps anyone else wondering why their script breaks once every few hours.

Thanks for the tip. I've also taken to cleaning out the "tmp-ags-site" folders inside C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\runtime\tomcat\temp\ for the same reason.

Does Portal have anything that automatically cleans up the temp folder once in a while? I see that it is using >18 GB to hold temporary files (likely from routine WebGIS DR restores). If there isn't an automated solution, then when is it safe to delete the files in the temp folder? Can I delete all the tmp-portal-unzip folders every time WebGIS DR finishes restoring a backup?

2 possible explanations (both of them sufficient): 1. ArcGIS Data Store had become disconnected from AGS. Reconnecting the two made WebGIS DR happy. 2. After WebGIS DR runs, the scheduled task is configured to reboot the VM. In the debugging process, I may have pressed the Step Over key twice (running webgis dr and restart) rather than once (run webgis dr only and then wait before running the reboot command). Either way, the computer no longer reboots itself.

By "walarchive directory", are you referring to "C:\arcgisportal\backup\walarchive"? I noticed it is 11 GB on a secondary server that only receives restores (I create backups from our primary Portal server).
