Hello, Please check the following: 1)From sde_version table check if there are any existing version? If any version represents, reconcile and post all the edits and delete the version. If sync_send version is present then from ArcCatalog, unregister the replica. 2)From sde_process_information table check if any user is connected to the geodatabase? 3)Shut down the map services, if any. 4)Check below tables if any lock exist: SDE_table_locks; SDE_layer_locks; SDE_object_locks; SDE_state_locks;

Hello, I understand that you are working with SQL server enterprise geodatabase with DBO schema and you want to hide the data present in an enterprise geodatabase from other users which are user mapped to the geodatabase. Please correct me if I am wrong in understanding. If you are data owner then you can grant and revoke the privileges of other users to select, insert, update and delete the data. Here is a link for reference: Grant and revoke dataset privileges—Help | ArcGIS Desktop Also, have a look at the below link: Privileges for geodatabases in SQL Server—Help | ArcGIS Desktop Thanks

In ArcGIS Pro, We can create a new database connection to the SQL Server Express instance and access the workgroup geodatabase. In ArcGIS Pro, there is no option like "Add database server " as it is in ArcGIS for Desktop. However, the workgroup geodatabase is supported in ArcGIS Pro.

Do you want to work with enterprise geodatabase? If yes, you can refer to the following link: Enable Enterprise Geodatabase—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Privileges for geodatabases in SQL Server—Help | ArcGIS Desktop But that might not resolve your ArcMap crash issue. Did you get the chance to confirm the things that I suggested in my above post?

Hello, Could please confirm the following: >> What if you try to add the data from file geodatabase? ArcMap crashes? >> You are working with which user: database authenticated or windows authenticated? Try using some other user and check the behavior. >>Is this issue is database/geodatabase specific? >>What if you try to try to create the connection to the database/geodatabase from a different machine? >>Have you checked the crash dump file.Crash dump can be found at following location: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ESRI\ErrorReports FAQ: Where are the ArcGIS crash dump files saved when an error report is generated? We have to confirm whether the issue is machine specific, data specific, user specific or database specific. >>Is SQL server and ArcGIS desktop are present on the same VM or different? Also, have a look at the below link: ArcGIS 10.3.x for Desktop system requirements—Help | ArcGIS Desktop Thanks

Hello, There is one more way to check whether you are connected to simple database or enterprise geodatabase. In Arc catalog -> right click on the database connection -> Check if you can see the "Enable geodatabase" option. If yes then its a "simple database". Thanks

Hello, We won't be able to edit the SQL server data in ArcMap. If we will add data SQL server data in Table of content and try editing it, following error will be encountered in ArcMap: "no editable layer" "the workspace containing this data can not be edited" >>Now to resolve this issue we can try following: 1. You can register the database as geodatabase and can edit the data in ArcMap. For that you can use "enable enterprise geodatabase" tool. Here is a link for reference: Enable Enterprise Geodatabase http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/10.3/tools/data-management-toolbox/enable-enterprise-geodatabase.htm To enable enterprise geodatabase we need keycodes or authorization file. For that we need ArcGIS for server enterprise license. 2.In Arcmap, you can import or copy/paste the data from sql server database to file geodatabase -> perform editing -> import it back in SQL server database. Also, I would appreciate if you could have a look at the below link: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/115683/do-i-need-arcgis-for-server-to-edit-my-ms-sql-server-database
