If these are file geodatabases <dataset>.gdb then you should be moving to a different data method that supports multiple concurrent access - database engines like MS SQL, Oracle, PostGIS, and others support this task. Take a look at https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/geodatabases/overview/types-of-geodatabases.htm . This reference is dated (personal geodatabases no longer supported) but the points are relevant visually https://proceedings.esri.com/library/userconf/proc15/tech-workshops/tw_739-37.pdf File geodatabases are not designed for concurrent edit access so forcibly removing schema locks sets yourself up for data corruption if you have multiple concurrent editors. The best way to remove the schema locks is to have them exit the application. Regards, Tom

@RussRoberts Sure. Quick Map - https://gilacountyaz.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=cac520ba0a5c46bbba571be77d0201d7 Data - https://services1.arcgis.com/PEZ16KoOWXoETFQ5/arcgis/rest/services/GilaCountyZoning_view/FeatureServer Look for OID's: 111, 317, 606, 888, 1646 That plot outside of the polygon. For ease I created a highlight layer with these OID's Regards, Tom

@RussRoberts Since it's been 5 months since the last update are there any status updates you can share? I just started a zoning map for the County this weekend and this oversight is a complete show stopper. We cannot have our constituents looking at data that suggests something different because the label cannot be put in the proper place. Thanks for anything that can be shared. Hi @EH_Alaska! GIS is the universal connector because nearly everything we do has context of spatial relevance in some fashion or another and every project can likely benefit from a map or spatial analysis. I came to GIS from the IT side of the world as a DBA manager. We had a data table (streets under Public Works maintenance) that needed visual context and validation for length. They gave me a GPS unit and put me out in the field for 4 months to drive every road in the County. With that information I did some cleanup and brought this back into the system. This work identified a number of streets that had problems. Like you I was not aware of GIS prior and did all the work in custom written VBA for AutoCAD Map. PC Arc/INFO and ArcView 3 were out at the time but I had a comfort level already in AutoCAD so didn't look to change. I never looked back. Now I am the GIS supervisor for the County I work in and touch everything including IT. Circling back to my roots, I took the IT port map and added office information/phone extensions by knowing the phone MAC addresses and finding them on the network to correlate to an office number. Now in case of an emergency event adjacent offices can be contacted directly. I have my building done and working to bring more in. Indoors is not part of our Small Gov ELA so I am building the interiors the old fashioned way. Respectfully Tom

Hi @Courtney360 It's amazing how little others know about us so I am not surprised at your response. Kudos for reaching out and looking to position yourself as a professional. The hard part of the underwriters is that GIS is truly an umbrella type of platform - it touches any and everything that has any spatial relevance and therein is the problem. An error in a watershed analysis is of different magnitude than an Indoors project where a wall is placed wrong. While I cannot offer you the name of an agent, my suggestion would be to reach out to other fields that are close to the field where you intend to work. If you are going to do outdoor work involving contour generation you might try and connect with independent land surveyors. If you are doing indoor work maybe look for a solo architect. In the end, the insurance coverage is going to come down to their perceived risk for the product(s) you create so you need to help the insurers understand where market similarities are relevant. $200 per month might not be bad at all since you have nothing to compare it to. Respectfully, Tom

@KenHartling Thanks for the information. Would it be possible for you to characterize/contrast the 3 buffer GP Tools: Buffer, Pairwise Buffer, Graphic Buffer? I am concerned with the leading notice on the Graphic Buffer documentation "The output of this tool is intended for cartographic display only. It is not intended for use in further analysis. Using it as such will result in incorrect results." The fact that you categorically exclude this for analytic purposes suggests to me that this tool should not be considered in the same tool class. I am with @ToddFagin in requesting the end type options in the Pairwise buffer. My understanding is that the pairwise (very odd name) Buffer is just the buffer tool enabled for parallel processing. Would that be correct? If so, losing the additional options certainly feels like a step backwards for those of us that need the option. Consider this a request to add the End and Side types that are missing in the Pairwise Buffer. Or remove the help tip from the Buffer_Analysis GP tool suggesting that Pairwise Buffer is in any fashion 'enhanced functionality' Respectfully, Tom

Just to keep this idea alive. We are running into similar problems as others and our concern relates to public safety/911. We have vendors that have not yet moved off of 2.9 so we are held back by the least advanced package. Having the ability to run differing versions would be very helpful.

I end up throwing my logging into a function so I can just make calls to logging - writelog('...') I use the pipe character as a delimiter to I can pull the log into Excel or similar if I need to do analysis. Overhead is probably higher due to recurring file open, write, close cycles but it works for what I'm doing. #function to write to an archive log to document the process of copying the features #removed + "\n\r" from write statement to get rid of extra lines #pipe | used for delmimiter def writelog(message): archive_log_path = archives_location + "\ArchiveLog.txt" timestamp = datetime.datetime.now() logfile = open(archive_log_path, "a") logfile.write(str(timestamp) + "|" + message + "\n") logfile.close() return

Hi, Have you looked at the layer/feature blending or have you overlooked it like I did for a few years? I might help to achieve your goal. Below is a quick map with our parcels and zoning. But I do like your idea of separate transparency controls. Too often transparent borders become almost useless. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/layer-properties/apply-visual-effects.htm

Interesting. Can I ask what was off? This tool is central to my process for creating terrain following drone flights now I am a bit concerned.
