Hi, Labels are designed to move in response to changes in scale, view, and surrounding features. This dynamic nature of labeling is helpful when building a map, but can cause slight differences between the layout map frame and the map view as the size and scale of the map can be different. If you need a label to stay in an exact spot converting it to an annotation class is a great option. You can also convert the labels to graphics which gives you more control over placement too.

Hi, I'm not sure what the idea is here. I understand legends can be frustrating and we are always looking to improve, but I don't know what you are asking for. Are there bugs in the software? Are there properties not available? We need more specific details to understand what is being asked so we can evaluate it. As for the legend you posted a picture of, you have word wrapping turned on for both labels and descriptions, but it doesn't look like you have any descriptions in your legend. So a lot of blank space is being added to accommodate your word wrapping without any values to wrap. I think unchecking word wrapping for descriptions will fix your legend spacing. I hope that helps. Cheers, Aubri Kinghorn

2.8 had some of the big changes made so it's good that you are using that version. Later versions will have even more speed improvements, with the not-yet-released 3.1 having some significant changes to improve export time. In the meantime, you could try exporting via python to see if that is faster. When you export via python the export runs in the front of the application. When you export via the pane the export runs behind-the-scenes. Behind the scenes is nice because you can continue working in Pro, but it does take a little more processing. Sometimes Python's export can be faster.

We don't support this in current versions of ArcGIS Pro with table frames. You'd have to highlight the table yourself with graphics, which probably won't work well for a map series. However, I think there are versions of this idea (or related ideas) on the Ideas site you can upvote for consideration in a future release of Pro.

That option gets disabled when the extent indicator area is larger than the visible map frame area. Since the extent indicator is too large to draw you can't add a leader line. So in the picture below if I try to add an extent indicator to map frame 1 showing the extent of map frame 2, that extent indicator won't draw on the map because the area of map frame 2 is more extensive than that of map frame 1. In that case my leader option becomes disabled. If I had an extent indicator to map frame 2 showing the extent of map frame 1 then the extent indicator draws as expected and I can add a leader. With that in mind the first thing I suggest is checking that your extent indicator is pointing to the right map frame. If that doesn't solve the problem you might try readding it altogether, it's possible Pro got stuck in a weird state and just needs to redo the extent indicator operation to get out of it. Cheers, Aubri

Hi Dave, Can I ask what version of Pro you are using? Changes were made in later versions to improve export times. Also, sadly SDE databases are a little slower than local databases because the data connections need to be made. Cheers, Aubri

Unfortunately this is a known bug in ArcGIS Pro 3.0 and earlier. It should be addressed in the Pro 3.1 release. In the meantime, you can work around the issue by exporting via the Python window instead of the export pane. You can learn more about exporting via Python here https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/arcpy/mapping/layout-class.htm And here is a sample script you can paste in the Python window to export all layouts in a project to PDF. ##Export to PDF
import time
aprx = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject("CURRENT")
aprx.listLayouts()
for lyt in aprx.listLayouts():
#Parameters: output name, resolution, image quality, compress vector graphics, image compression, embed fonts, layer attributes, georeference, jpeg compression, clip to elements, output as image, embed color profile
#Image quality: "BEST", "BETTER", "NORMAL", "FASTER", "FASTEST"
#Image compression: "ADAPTIVE", "DEFLATE", "JPEG", "LZW", "NONE", "RLE"
#Layer attributes: "LAYERS_ONLY", "LAYERS_AND_ATTRIBUTES", "NONE"
start = time.time()
lyt.exportToPDF(f"C:\Temp\{lyt.name}.pdf", 150, "BEST", True, "ADAPTIVE", True, "LAYERS_ONLY", True, 80, False, False, False)
end = time.time()
print(f"{lyt.name} exported in {end - start} seconds")
print("Done")

I think you can do a lot of this with the grids and graticules tools in ArcGIS Pro. There's an introductory topic here: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/layouts/grids-and-graticules.htm, and a tutorial for working with graticules (learning how to manipulate all the different pieces) https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/layouts/work-with-a-grid.htm that might be helpful. That's a great inspiration piece, I hope you can create what you are going for!

Hi, This is available! In ArcGIS Pro 2.9 we added legend styles. You can save a default legend style with this and any other options turned on or off as desired. Cheers, Aubri Kinghorn

That's really weird. I'm glad you found a solution that works. If you are willing and able, could you reach out to tech support about logging a bug for your problem? The development team for this would be interesting in investigating further what is going on with the single pdf file.

There is an enhance thin lines setting in Adobe Reader or Acrobat that can be turned off. That might fix this problem. Essentially they are taking lines that you can't see very well and making them thicker. It may be that there is an incredibly faint border around the image and Adobe is trying to make it more visible. To check you could also try opening the PDF in a web browser since they don't have this option.

@TedCronin can you explain more about how you did this in ArcMap and what you want to see for equivalency in ArcGIS Pro? Are you looking for a context menu option or something on the properties window?

There isn't currently a way to do linked proportional scales in ArcGIS Pro. However some of the other fitting strategies might work here. Linked map frame extent and linked map frame center both allow you to use the extent of a layer to zoom out further. If you have a layer with features at the other scale you want to display you could use that. If the scales are pretty common you can just use linked center, and then the map frame will keep it's scale but update the location.
