This makes a lot of sense to me. Perhaps you should submit it as and Idea.

Did you ever provide a more obvious way to do this in the API, Rich? I am running into some issues with this not working so well, for example, with type CIMXYEventDataConnection and when CIMSqlQueryDataConnection becomes CIMRelQueryTableDataConnection via joining to a local table (it does work with a join when the data are all in the file geodatabase).

I noticed this too during testing. On my desktop, I resize my browser windows quite often to display multiple things across my monitors at the same time. It seems that this would present incorrect information to someone, somewhere eventually. I hope someday that this could be rectified, but it may be a big hurdle. @Jianxia @ShengdiZhang

I asked for something similar in the Javascript API Search Widget too. It got implemented: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-javascript-maps-sdk-ideas/search-widget-dropdown-suggestions-only-ones-that/idc-p/1132714#M103 We also really need it to work this way in ExB.

The documentation for a "New Item" of type "Application" according to Esri Technical Support is here: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/10.9.1/use/add-items.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_0D1B620254F745AE84F394289F8AF44B But it does not include the Application Extension (AppBuilder) option. Also it would be more efficient to have a link to this document in the portal interface (we are using 10.9.1, so maybe this has already happened in a newer release?). I couldn't find this documentation after extensive searching. I agree that it is nice to simplify the interface by using "Tips" instead of links to detailed documentation, but in many cases that doesn't make sense.

Yes, this is related to an idea I posted: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-experience-builder-ideas/make-selection-of-map-features-more-adjustable-and/idi-p/1245929 This is a major limitation. We have been told by our local Esri reps that we shouldn't be writing custom applications anymore. Esri will do it all with configurable apps. We can't begin to buy that idea without being able to do these types of things.

I didn't like where the command search was pre 3.x because we have a lot of custom add-ins with their own tabs. The tab titles become impossible to read with the command search and user credentials competing for the space. Though collapsing them to icons is fine with me.

@KoryKramer Ha! Yes I was referring to the Command Search. We are at v2.9.5: Since the time I last posted here I attended a demonstration by colleagues using 3.x. I noticed that Command search was not in line with the tabs in the newer version. Glad to see that improvement is awaiting us when we can make the jump!

I agree. I never use the search function and seeing it as just an Icon would be great. Same goes for seeing my user name and organization. We have a lot of custom tabs and these things squeeze the names on the tabs down to where we can't read them.

I have to say that the idea of the user deleting the source file is so very counter-intuitive that it just should not be done. First of all, the users certainly won't have any reason to want to do that. They don't understand it in the first place. Second, I think that unless you put big exclamation points in the documentation, many developers might not actually understand that this is what is going to happen. We are smart people, but it is hard to ingest something that doesn't make sense, doesn't seem to have a purpose, and is unprecedented. I think the question here should be, "Why is it designed this way?" If you could tell us why it might be useful to us, then we might be able to give you our full perspective on the issue. As it is, yes, we are able to use the registry setting, and we prefer to use the registry setting for many of our in-house add-ins that we want all users to have installed. But we would still like to be able to allow the users to choose to add and remove other add-ins as they see fit by adding or removing a path to a shared location in the Add-in Manager. We don't have a lot of people in our organization that have admin rights anymore, so doing everything through the registry is not ideal. And having users each have their own copy of the add-in file (double-click install) is not going to be good when it comes to migrating to a new major release. There we will see breaking changes, so we want to have a centralized repository of all add-ins in order to see what needs to be fixed before the upgrade.

Please support the idea about this issue that I posted here: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-experience-builder-ideas/search-widget-add-style-settings-for-the-search/idi-p/1130186 Adding a comment about why this is important for your organization and how many people it effects would further help push this along.

It is in the Data centric section of the AGOL Edition. Are you using ExB through ArcGIS Enterprise (or maybe the Developer Edition)?

Using the Select Widget in Web AppBuilder users can “adjust the selection set” by: Press the Shift key while dragging the pointer on the map to add selected features to the selection. Press the Ctrl key while dragging the pointer on the map to remove selected features from the selection. We would like to see this functionality in Experience Builder. An idea already exists for the Select Widget itself: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-experience-builder-ideas/select-standalone-widget/idi-p/1104698 Under the Select Widget idea, I posted support for “adjust the selection set” functionality to be included, but we want to go a step further. Using out of the box functionality, we would like users to be able to: Select features in layer 1. The Filter Widget would work. Buffer the selected/filtered features using something like the WAB Analysis Widget. Select features in layer 2 that intersect the buffer perhaps using the Query Widget (see note in next step). Using a map tool with a Map Widget, manually add or remove selected features from the selection set via the map using something like the WAB Select Widget. Note that in WAB you cannot use the Select Widget to adjust the selection set derived from the Query Widget. Export the selected features’ attributes to CSV. This functionality is, of course, already available with several widgets. This would be used by about 20 people in our 1000 person organization to create mailing lists. We can imagine using this type of workflow for many other things as well.

We would really like to see these capabilities in the Select Widget or elsewhere: Press the Shift key while dragging the pointer on the map to add selected features to the selection. Press the Ctrl key while dragging the pointer on the map to remove selected features from the selection.
