G'day All Bus routing would be of interest or do people use other software for this task? I see a few posts from circa 2010 with references to ArcLogistics (https://www.esri.com/library/whitepapers/pdfs/k12-school-bus-routing.pdf ). Also took a while to find the High Density Routing tips. Surprised not more questions or maybe it's easier to do than I think This would be multi layered: - Selection of bus stop locations (pretty much fixed though would be interesting to see) - Route school buses - Route public transport buses (I guess same method, just different input) - Route trip to school using public transport bus and school bus (throw in a train or ferry for bonus points) - Optimize bus numbers across depots - Driver schedules - Costing figures to run buses under different scenarios I've just started exploring VRP and still on a steep learning curve. Likely have missed some points above. Some areas we have to route are relatively small, with few roads, so the route is 'obvious' One thing that hasn't jumped out at me yet in my initial testing has been how to handle the scattering of students that live near each other and go to different schools. I have assigned all students from one school to one (or two) route. Depot to students to school to depot. All students in that area go to the local school. Thinking as I type this, I guess I'll just make student routes with interchanges vs having a bus dedicated to a school. I'm sure the bus people here will have ideas ... they are doing the routing already! Thanks

G'day All Apologies for the title, was thinking how search engines may index. I've just started to explore VRP (ArcPro 2.5.0) using a subset of data to see how things work. The current scenario is one depot with two buses to pick up students and drop to one school. I'm trying different options and (although my data is currently more like a High Density Route) found two odd behaviors. I tried Order Pairs and Quantities. When the bus first visits the school, not all students are removed from the bus. This later leads the bus to shuttle back and forth as a few students are dropped off and then a few more picked up. I would have assumed that when at the Paired location, all deliveries (students) for that location would exit the bus. I also tried the School as a Renewal Depot and no change. The depot is approx 15 minutes from the school. There is a small cluster of student near the depot. The route that picks these students up collects them last; ie head into town, grabs students, loops back out to the depot and then back into town to the school. I'm sure there is a mathematical reason for this and just looks odd. Trying a Route solution picks up the close to depot students first. Is the Order Pair behavior expected? Is there a way to force the bus to empty when visiting the school? Thanks

G'day Again I need to supply a rolling count of number of visits to locations over the financial year, 1 July to 30 June. At the moment I have a Year Predefined Filter and a Month Predefined Filter. So last month I had 2019 checked in one window and Jul - December in the other window. This month things go wrong as I need to check 2019 and 2020 but don't want to see 2019 Jan results. I'm assuming the way forward is to create custom filters. I would also like the end users to keep the ability to chose the historical year(s) and month(s) they may be interested in. Thanks for your ideas!

G'day All! I am currently using Insights via ArcGIS Online. I have a couple of cards that display some charts / figures from a table that is a hosted feature service. I update this service every day. Everyday this breaks the Insights page. I currently need to manually Refresh Dataset in edit mode and then Save the page for other people to be able to see the updated data. Two questions: - Can Insights automatically tell the data has changed and use the new data (or is this actually a feature) - Is there a Python function I can add to my feature service update script to force Insights to perform a Refresh Dataset. Thanks

Hi Catherine I'm far from an expert and I don't think the template / slider widget currently does what you want. Can you just use the original web map in your Story Map? If sticking with the Time template, you may be able to add text to the Story Map to suggest the end user collapse the time interval on the slider, though very messy and unlikely to be followed. You could try the time slider widget within a web mapping application, though the slider behaves similarly (the same?). To get around the interval at the start of the slider, we have the start time set to the end time. It removed the interval and still confusing to end users as when they hit the start / play button nothing happens Hoping one day will be fixed!

Hi Rupert Essinger Thank you for your wisdom. I thought that may be the case and good to have confirmed as we explore options. Thanks again

The tables that fail all have > 2,000 rows. If I just scroll down the page, the error always occurs at 200 records.
