Thanks Dan. I think it might be easier to include the "add field" as a work around in the original model.

Thanks Dan, I'm not sure how to do that. Would that be a .pyt toolbox? Having looked at the .pyt it's not really the desired workflow as I was hoping to use ModelBuilder for non-coders. Cheers, Oliver

Thanks Dan, I expected the field type to be determined by what is calculated but that doesn't seem to be happening. The expression I'm using is !Shape.area@hectares! Here's a gif of the the tool not providing the second dropdown (as per Robert's answer) and creating a text field when a double or float would be expected.

Thanks David, the new dropdown is not appearing. The tool is being used in Modelbuilder and connected to an intermediate datasource. I've deleted all intermediate data and the yellow warning is to inform me that the field does not exist. On further testing the dropdown doesn't appear when using the tool on intermediate data within Modelbuilder. It does appear if I use it on the original input feature class. The workaround for intermediate data is to use the "add field" tool first within the model and then "calculate field"

Thanks Robert, I'm not getting the same behaviour. I'm on ArcPro 2.7 and using the tool within modelbuilder. But as you can see the "Field Type" setting is not appearing. The yellow warning next to field name is to inform me that the field doesn't exist and will be created. However, I just tried it with the original input (not intermediate data) and that dropdown does appear. So it would seem for intermediate data the "add field" tool would need to be run first.

Thanks Robert. I was looking at that as a workaround. Is there no way to add optional arguments through the codeblock?

I'm using ArcGIS pro 2.7 and building a model that uses the "Calculate field" tool. I'd like the field to be a new field and it needs to be of the data type "double". When inputting the parameters there is no option to select data type of the output field. The documentation says this is an optional parameter. However, where and how should this be entered into the dialog box? Below is an example of what I have so far (calculating area in hectares). Currently this creates the output field as "text" data type. Cheers, Oliver

ArcGIS Pro 2.6 brings some new capabilities for working with geopackages. Here I take a look at some basic functions and try out editing gpkg layers as well as adding rasters and shapefiles to a gpkg. For the most part things seem to work and there's a workaround for using the Raster to Geopackage tool. If you're working with gpkg in ArcGIS Pro and have any tips or suggestions please let me know. Thanks for trying Dan. I'm struggling to think of a use case for a "sometimes" accurate analysis tool. Do you have any experience with the viewshed or viewshed 2 geoprocessing tools? I tried both prior to using the interactive one but had very mixed results.

Thanks for the quick response Dan. The settings I'm using are below: It seems that the tool is working off the pyramids rendered rather than the actual data values.

I'm trying to find carry out a viewshed analysis but am not able to get consistent results. Having tried and failed with viewshed and viewshed2 I discovered interactive viewshed analysis in ArcGIS Pro 2.5.0. This appeared promising but having input an observer offset of 10m and using the Ordnance Survey's 50cm DSM as the ground layer I was surprised to see the viewshed change as I zoomed the camera out (using the "C" shortcut to change the cursor to explorer mode). The ground layer uses EPSG: 27700 for the coordinate system and EPSG: 5701 for the vertical coordinate system. I'd like to know why this is happening as it makes any output from this tool unusable.

Getting geotagged photos into a webmap needn't be a pain. Using snap2map you can accomplish this quite easily. I find it really useful when taking photos on site or in the field. Let me know what you think in the comments below and please share the video. geotagged photos

I'm trying to run the arcgis API in jupyter. I have installed ArcGIS 2.4 (upgraded from 2.3). Checking my Python packages through ArcGIS pro I can see arcgis package is installed. When I open the Python Command Prompt the default environment is activated (arcgispro-py3). Typing "jupyter notebook" launches jupyter and I can see the tree in my browser. When I try to import the API I get the following: I have tried cloning my default environment within ArcGIS Pro and updating the arcgis package using conda. However, in the cloned environment the problem persists. I suspect it may be a problem with my environment paths. Any help apprectiated.
