Peter MacKenzie - not correct, this is available in the current release of Survey123 - but the standard maps feature is marked as a beta feature within it.

The data I normally use is projected in Delaware State plane (meters) so that might be it. Map projection is the same. I’ll have to try changing the map projection and see if that helps. The data is hosted services so I can’t change that easily. - Thanks

Just checked and the setting the units in the tool does persist within an open ArcGIS Pro session, like you described. However, I'd really like it to stay set when I close and reopen Pro. It would be fine even if it was project specific. I'm using 2.4.3

I had already tried that, here are my settings. It isn't affecting the measure tool.

Thanks for the supporting story. It seems like in most cases one day is a problem, but one hour is a crisis.

I almost always want to measure in feet and acres, but the tool defaults to metric units. This means I have to change the units every time I open the tool.

Generally, I like the move to named user licenses since it allows me to easily use and authenticate ArcGIS Pro when I switch between several computers. However, when Pro cannot authenticate it creates a notification that your access to Pro will be cut off in 1 hour. This is causing problems today because ESRI is experiencing AGOL outages that is interfering with Pro authentication for named licenses. Since Pro can't authenticate, it says I'll be unable to use it after an hour. The important point here is that things out of a user's control could cause this - including connectivity problems or - as in this case - AGOL problems. A grace period of 1 hour will likely impact users when then problem is out of their control. I think extending that to maybe - one day - would not impact ESRI (if your license really did expire, one extra day isn't going to change much) but would allow time for external problems to be fixed and/or give users time to find and implement a workaround (eg - find internet they can connect to once a day). I realize that checking out a license could help, but not all organizations allow it and that seems like a more cumbersome solution if this is the only reason a user needs to check out their license.

This has been bugging me about the ArcGIS Pro UI. The Clear Selection and Delete Selection buttons are right next to each other in the Attribute Table (first screenshot) as well as the Attribute Editor context menu. It seems too easy to click the wrong one (I have done it, luckily I realized quickly and could rebuild the missing data). I'm using feature services so there is no option to discard edits later. I worry this is even more confusing for less experiences users. Separating the buttons would help, at least making it harder to accidentally click the wrong one. I like the larger X icon from the attribute menu & ribbon, vs the less distinguishable icon in the table editor. The arrangement in the ribbon is also better where the delete button is removed from the selection tab. I never feel I'll accidentally click delete here.

Hi Catie, Can you send a link to the csv you're trying to import. And is the map you're making public? Or can it be. If so a link to that would help too. Jimmy

I'm not editing SDE databases directly, but many of our workflows edit feature services hosted in AGOL or Portal or connections to remote ArcGIS Server. It could be that the network connection is more of a bottleneck for us than other factors. That might be different if you have on-site SDE servers. Here's the basics Dell Precision 3630 - Dell's retail price for this is about $1600 Intel Xeon E-2224, 4 Core, 8MB Cache, 3.4Ghz, 4.6Ghz Turbo NVIDIA Quadro P620, 2GB, 4 mDP to DP adapter 32GB 4x8GB DDR4 2666MHz UDIMM Non-ECC Memory M.2 512GB PCIe NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive 1TB SATA Hard Drive

I have the opposite experience and think this might be due to hardware. I believe a high-performance configuration for ArcMap would be different than for Pro, due to multi-processor support, GPU's etc. On my pc, Pro opens in seconds and is very fast. ArcMap feels like a bag of bricks in comparison, to the point that a rarely open it.

Rather than a constraint, I've thought it would work well if the location were null when the form loads. Then the location is not populated until the user sets it. Hopefully, setting the geopoint to required would then force the user to pick a location. Required doesn't work right now because it always loads a default (bad) location. I've seen this cause lots of problems.

That poll needs a third option - ArcGIS Pro is ready by I am not. I'm in the middle of a project to move all of my programs data processing and map production into Pro. It's taken some re-learning for sure, but now I am at the point where I love working in Pro and lothe opening ArcMap. Pro actually runs much faster on my current PC than ArcMap, probably because it's able to take advantage of the better hardware and 64 bit architecture. It's also reached a point where it has many new features that ArcMap never did. The symbology is better and map navigation experience is more fluid, and I can add summary statistics and formatted tables from related data to map layouts. Overall, I really enjoy working in it. (But to be fair, performance on my old PC was a drag) These maps were created in Pro and everything about them is created dynamically from the geodatabase. All I do is pick the project's ID number. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mByFBDEFDkbvxn7osK2rsEvI_7B_saSf/view?usp=sharing But the other side of this story - I think we have two groups emerging at work. New GIS users who, from day one, work with solutions designed for ArcGIS Pro using feature services, mobile and web tools, etc. They tend to be very happy and I've even heard some say Pro was 'intuitive'. Nobody said that about ArcMap. The other group are 'traditional' ArcMap users who's programs have used GIS for years (decades?). It'll take a lot of time and energy to retrain them in Pro and modify their workflows. They need training and they also need to dedicate time to using Pro and working through the roadblocks they will find. I feel like this group is stuck and really needs a push. They also tend to be confused by Pro because they are expecting it to be laid out like ArcMap, which it isn't. Jimmy

Here is another writeup I found on real-world Pro hardware. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j0XOrBmsVxsMVVGjM8v90JyV-e8mtmP2/view The easiest and probably least upgrade to your current setup would be more RAM. If it's reading/writing to virtual memory that'll really slow it down and 16gb is on the low end of requirements. After that, consider a better video card. I'd make sure your windows virtual memory/Pro cache locations are local drives (not on a network). I've seen that where someone is having poor performance and Arc a network folder for a cache. Not helping!! Your CPU has 2 physical (4 virtual) cores and that doc recommends more, but not too many people are going to upgrade their processor. Jimmy
