I agree that is incredibly helpful for folks to post their final code. Thanks for that. I do have a question about line-38. Dont you want "lyr.definitionQuery = query # set the layers defintionQuery " to be outside of the 'else'? You want to set the def query to the variable 'query' either way, and NOT just in the case of the else, right? I cant say for sure, because I am elementary with my python.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a recommendation for something that projects North America similarly? I want to georeference the old map in something close to reduce amount of warping and number control points needed. Thanks,

I am looking for the projection used in an old 1975 geologic map. After looking at Snyder's 'Map Projections of USGS' document, I think it may have been drafted in Bipolar Oblique Conic Conformal. Esri says it supports this projection but I dont see it in the list of projections when I select custom. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there any way to do a page definition query for a mosaic dataset? This would enable you to 'turn on/off' a raster in data driven pages. You CAN do this in raster catalog, so why not in a Mosaic Datasets?

When using symbol fill properties, are there performance differences between a marker and picture? If i can use two symbols (using 2 layers) that mostly represent the picture I would use in the fill, am I better off from a performance perspective? Along the same lines, what are some general symbology guidelines for maximizing performance? Thanks,

Thanks. It looks like there are plenty of videos there. I may be able to find what I need. Unfortunately for some of the videos I saved, I only have the original link and not the title. Oh well. Interesting that there is nothing anywhere that even talks of the existence of old sites. I feel like Esri has resources scattered everywhere. Geonet confusion hasn't helped I don't think.

I have several bookmarks and links that link to geochannel.esri.com. I guess that this site is no more? Does anyone know where these videos are stored now? Is there anything that links back up with the video IDs so I can re-find those videos?

I am trying to get a list together of the many ways that ArcGIS can read spatial reference info from a tif file. There can be info in header information, there can be a tfw, or esri auxiliary files, etc. Can anyone elaborate on those methods and add a few more? Also, what is ArcGIS order priority on which method it uses? My concern is when tifs are moved between software and there could be different spatial reference information listed in different places. It would be nice to know how to look for spatial reference in each method to compare and confirm that they are the same.

I have seen blurring effects when the two rasters are not directly aligned or registered to each other. You can overlay the two and identify to check the math of the calculation on a few pixels. It's just a thought of something to look at along with Price's solution.

When doing map algebra in Raster Calculator, what is the default used for grids of varying pixel resolution or grids that aren't exactly registered? How does it pick the values? Nearest Neighbor, interpolation, etc.?

This is a major bummer. I have no idea why a model in batch would behave this way. It pretty much put the tool I was creating in a dead end. Does anyone know if a script tool in batch behaves the same way?
